“Highly recommend Poet Douglas (and Peppers) for families.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

My in-laws stayed here, so this is just a review of the times we joined them with our young kids. Their room was a penthouse, but no lift meant they had to climb 3 flights of stairs. Their well equipped room overlooked the pool. The swim up rooms looked better though, especially with a family. The beach style pool was the best thing I saw at the resort. Approx 50m long with sand covering the ground for most of it. So perfect for the kids! Location is also great, walking distant to centre of port Douglas.

Dear scos,

Thank you for taking the time to post regarding your recent stay with us.

We agree we are lucky to have such an amazing lagoon pool; for families to relax around during the days. The kids and the big kids love our pool.

We do have lifts at the resort though do not service all rooms; we try to make this as clear as we can at point of booking and make every attempt to fulfil our guests requests.

Hope you had a safe trip back to Perth and we look forward to welcoming you and your in-laws back to Peppers Beach Club.

Kind regards,
Jeremy Nordkamp

My husband and I stayed at Peppers for 8 days in July and absolutely loved it. We had a one bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool and could not fault anything. In fact I have kept telling everyone how wonderful our stay was. We thought the continental breakfast was delicious and did wonder what other people on trip advisor were complaining about. Seasonal fresh fruit yoghurt juice and a choice of toast muffins and Danish pastries. We did not tire of it and to eat in such beautiful surroundings was just fabulous. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful
Stay. We will be back

Room Tip: 2nd floor overlooking the pool

Dear Paula S,

Greetings from Port Douglas.

Thank you for your post regarding your recent stay. We are very lucky to have Alyson on the team and we think that she is fabulous as well.

We are lucky to have such an amazing pool, though the cocktails around the pool make it even better.

Thank you especially for the comment 'Staff are fantastic' - I was chuffed to read this and cannot wait to pass it onto the team.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Peppers Beach Club.

The location is perfect, walking distance to all restaurants, shops, beach and market. The hotel pool was beautiful, nice cocktails at the bar, and staff were all helpful. We had a one bedroom apartment with balcony and bbq, very spacious and comfortable. It would be good if the aircon in the gym could be cooler ( was too hot and bit stuffy in gym ) but thats being picky! A nice, quiet resort.

Pool is great for kids and that's as good as it gets.

Not sure where to start....
I'm not one to complain but I guess I think it's best to warn some people before they pay to stay here.
We have stayed at Peppers in Broadbeach several times and the service and accommodation is fantastic. However I can't even compare this to their standards.
The cleanliness of the rooms is poor. I'm not sure if it's because they are under staffed but I wouldn't even call it a clean.
I wouldn't bother paying for the continental breakfast as it would be cheaper to buy your own and have it in the room with the complimentary coffee & tea.
Overall it was disappointing given the amount of money we paid.

What can you say about Peppers.
We booked a discount spa room for a weekend in August when we were in the area for work. We went in feeling tired and worn out and after 2 nights we came out feeling revived. I dont know of any other resort that can make you feel great just walking into the room. Even our discount room had a spa on the balcony, and all the trimmings of a standard room. We had nice wine glasses, lots of yummy mini bar items on option and beautiful furnishings. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, with beautiful pillows and linen, even the shampoo and soaps etc were lovely. We loved the decor and the layout of the room and were inspired by the whole resort.
We recieved a complimentary contintental breakfast by the swim up beach pool, and it was beautiful.... pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurts, muselis - it was all there.
The staff at Peppers are superb. They treat all the guests so well and should be recognised for this. The resort is so close to town we didnt even take our vehicle out for the whole weekend.
We love Peppers and absolutely loved our stay at the Peppers Beach Club in Port Douglas.

Second stay here and this time went for a 2 bed suite with private plunge pool. Staff were as friendly and helpful as before which is always good and generally the room was superb. Big lounge area with kitchenette and an in/out build so can sit on sofa or chairs on the covered terrace, which also has a basic electric hot plate (grandly named a barbecue) and a dining table and 6 chairs. The private plunge pool is outside the terrace, although it should be noted that it is private in use only as it is open to the street behind (which is not that busy but is 'there' if you know what I mean). The deck with the pool had an from 10am to about 1pm in July, this was in suite 134. The suite opposite, possibly 135 or 136, was unlikely to get any sun so f you're going for sunbathing that's not the room for you.
The room was perfect for us as a couple but here is the downside for anyone planning to share with friends or family. The 2 bedrooms share a bathroom which is pretty inadequate for the use of more than 2 people. There is insufficient shelf space for more than 2 people so you would always be moving stuff around.
The rest of the suite is fine for more than 2 until you get to the plunge pool, which only has room for 2 sunbeds, which would mean someone misses out (not even room for 2 chairs with the beds).
All that said, if you're a couple with the money to spend you would like the room, but I suspect there may be slightly better value elsewhere in PD. if you choose Peppers you won't be let down though
