“A Wonderful Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We are a family of 5 with 3 young ladies for daughters. We stayed between 19th - 28th January in rooms 325 & 326. This was a two bedroom apartment dual key to a motel style room. It was on the 3rd floor. Despite reading some of the bad reviews I cannot say anything but compliment the place, service and everything in between. Yes there were children playing in the pool early in the morning but nothing to bother us with. Some writers have complained regarding privacy or there be it lack of using the spa on the balcony. We did not have an issue with this as we were on the 3rd floor and had all the privacy we wanted. We got a really good deal through the Entertainment Book however we chose not to include breakfast due to the bad reviews. Our bad cause we did eat there one night and it was lovely. They also do happy hour between 5 - 6 everynight. We had the tail end of Cyclone Oswald and whenever we asked the staff on the status they were right on the ball even to the point on the impact the cyclone would have on some of the tours and therefore saved us quite a lot of money. They also gave us some great suggestions for dinner outside the resort. Although it is a 5 minute walk to the main street, due to the cyclone and time of year many nights during our stay it was raining heavily. We discoverd a shuttle service that picks you up and takes you to the main street for only $2p/p. Once again the staff were quite helpfull in calling them and organizing for us to be picked up. We had a few minor issues with the rooms eg. blown light bulb, constant running water in our toilet but as soon as we advised them they were right on it. One criticisim is the entrance and exit to their carpark. We hired a car for a couple of days. Watch out - there are signs up both ends to say it is steep. But every time we entered or exited it the bottom of our car scraped. They really need to do something about this ! On the whole this place is wonderful and we will definitely be back to see all the things we couldn't this time around. P.S. The beds were very comfy !

Room Tip: If you want privacy ask for the 3rd floor. Also you need to book ahead for a spa treatment as it doe...

Brilliant hotel with excellent, constantly smiling staff! The Spa Suite was really nice and had everything you could need for a short getaway. The lagoon pool was great for relaxing and it was a very short walk to the beach and shops/restaurant precinct. It was very quiet during my stay in late January which was really good for peace and quiet! Thanks for a really nice stay - hope to return soon!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

My partner and I stayed in a spa suite for 7 nights last week. We managed to get a really good deal at almost 40% off which also included a continental breakfast. The room was fantastic! It was exactly what we expected and then some. The spa bath on the balcony overlooking the pool was just perfect! All staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Upon check in we were comprehensively told where our apartment was, although despite this we still managed to get lost (our own fault really) however one of the staff we found in the carpark was more than helpful in explaining where to go and even walked us there to ensure we got there and didn't get lost again! He also gave us some great advice in relation to keeping the room nice and cool for when we returned after a day out.

Continental breakfast was everything we expected and more. Plenty of options for toast, a nice range of fruit, and pastries. Plus hot dishes were only $10 extra (which were REALLY good!)

They offer happy hour at the bar in the arvo and we used this a couple of times in our stay. The staff were great and on the ball.

It's nice and close to the main street but still far enough away not to get loud at night.

We also treated ourselves to a spa treatment. The girls in there are miracle workers. When they finished I didn't want to leave!

The only issue we had was the hot water was a bit touchy to the point where you would be filling the spa bath with straight hot water and it would come out Luke warm to cold, and the water pressure in the shower can be a little off sometimes too but this is certainly not a deal breaker.

The other issue was that the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, but once again not a deal breaker.

Can be expensive but if you are after something which is truly 5 star and with the most helpful and friendly staff I have ever met, than this is for you!!

Had a great stay and would certainly stay here again. An absolute luxury stay in the beautiful port Douglas!!

My husband and I stayed here for five nights as part of our honeymoon in April. The hotel was in a great location with the beach and town centre very close just a 5 minute walk away. The hotel was lovely the decor stunning and the pool area was very relaxing and beautiful. When we checked in we were a bit disappointed that it was our honeymoon and there was no free upgrades or extras. We found this a bit strange since other hotels we had stayed in the days before in Sydney and Port Douglas had given us upgrades with no hesitation and the hotel was very empty, the larger superior rooms round the pool lay mostly empty our entire trip!

Our room was a spa suite but I was disappointed that it was very small and definitely not what I would describe a 'suite'! The jacuzzi on the balcony was very nice though and we did have a nice pool view. The decor in the room was lovely and it was very clean.

We never ate in the hotel since the choice of food was limited and it was expensive, it was much nicer to walk into town where there is lots of lovely restuarants, lots of variety for every budget. The hotel gave us a great eating out leaflet which listed all the restuarants in the area and their opening times, type of food, if they were BYOB and their price range which was very useful!

It was stinger season so we couldn't go in the sea so it's something to think about if going at that time of year, although they do have an area with nets up to have a small swim.

I was very disappointed that there was no free Internet access. We wanted to send an email home to let our family know how we were getting on and obviously did not bring our laptop on honeymoon! You had to pay for Internet access and it was a minimum time of 1hr! I only wanted to use it for 5 minutes! This was ridiculous for being in 2012! They would have obviously had an unlimited Internet deal for hotel work use and they can't let guests use it too!!

The gym was very small and disappointing also.

We loved Palm Cove and would love to return!! Would possibly stay here again but would probably look at other hotels first.

Dear SandCtheworld,

Firstly we would like to congratulate you on your recent wedding.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise, as we strive do everything possible to make our guests’ celebrating those special occasions very special (if we know about it and have the availability), it would seem this time we have not raised to the occasion.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our food choices and prices, we consider that the price range is quite competitive within the Port Douglas area. Our main meal price range is $29 - $49 and we are always happy to talk to guest about special requests for meals.

You are correct in saying that it is currently stinger season and we do suggest that if people are going swimming that they go between the lifesaving flags, where the stinger net is. Stinger season is typically runs from October to May. Most of the reef operators will supply guests with stinger suits that keep you safe when our on the reef.

You will be happy to know that we currently reviewing our internet charges and access for our guests.

SandCtheworld, again thank you for taking the time to post, we aim for a 5 star review and we have not been to exceed your expectations on this occasion. I hope that you give us the opportunity and visit us again so that you can experience the high level of service that we are known for.

Please feel free to contact me directly on your next visit and I will oversee your stay personally.

Kind regards,

We paid extra to upgrade to this hotel after reading reviews and it was well worth it.

Staff we helpful and friendly. The rooms were nicely decorated and the hotel pool is the best I have been to.

It's quite a small hotel and doesn't feel crowded in any way, no problems getting a sun lounger or a seat at breakfast. The loungers are on the artificial beach which forms part of the pool. The type of sand has been well thought through has it doesn't really stick and sinks straight to the bottom when disturbed.

Restaurants and bars are only a few mins walk, as is the four mile beach.

We had the full breakfast option which I would recommend. Hot breakfast are all cooked fresh and the quality was excellent. Also had a couple of lunches at the hotel which were again excellent and not too pricey. The restaurant bar overlooks the pool and you can even swim up to get a drink or a snack.

Other than the restaurant and the pool there aren't really any other facilities but we never tend to use them anyway.

Overall probably our favourite hotel stay.

Hi Baggie_Bird82,

Just a quick note to thank you for your recent post, it’s always great to receive positive feedback from a senior reviewer. We hope that you made it back safely to the UK.

I believe that we might have had some heavy rain during your stay, which does wash the sand down a little, though our maintenance team work very hard to keep the beach looking fabulous.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay us.

Lush, colourful tropical gardens welcome you to the beautiful entrance of Pepper's Beach Club, Port Douglas. From the moment we arrived the staff were charming, helpful, friendly and obliging. Each member made our stay enjoyable and relaxed. Our room was clean and cool every time we returned. The spa on our balcony was exhilarating. The lagoon pool was magnificent and enticing. It easyily accommodated all guest needs from children, their parents, those wanting their own privacy and a cocktail from the poolside bar. We dined on the poolside terrace and the atmosphere was as superb as the food and service. The whole resort is modern, well-equipped, well designed and affordable. We are definitely going to return. We loved the town, the marina, the reef activities such as the Aquarius catamaran trip, the restaurants and cafes all within a short distance of the resort.

Room Tip: Swim out rooms are available. Some rooms have a BBQ on the balcony while others have a spa. Adjoinin...

Dear fardell7,

I just wanted to say thank you for the great feedback regarding your stay. I cannot wait to share with the team.

You are absolutely right we do have swim up rooms available, they are very popular and we only have handful. All of our one, two and three bedroom apartments have a BBQ on the balcony. Great room tips.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Please make sure that you contact our onsite reservation team on your next visit, so that we can take good care of you.

We just spent ten days here at Peppers in Port Douglas and enjoyed it very much. Upon arrival we were given the wrong room and after feverish phone calls from our travel agent we were moved to the room we payed for. We received apologies and food vouchers and that was okay. The accommodation is incredible with kitchen, washing machine and lovely rooms. We loved using the BBQ and the lovely pontoon. The location of the hotel is excellent, only a five minute stroll to town where you are spoilt for choice for restaurants.
The staff is lovely and helpful and the housekeeping ladies are doing a great job. The only disappointment was the food. Sometimes the food was outstanding other times truly awful. After I sent back a frozen chocolate mousse because it was too hard to eat I received a bowl of badly melted cooking chocolate. Not nice. Breakfasts were also random. We had pancakes without bananas and syrup and eggs benedikt with butter sauce instead of the creamy sauce I expected. As I don't like sweet things for breakfast I was looking for cold cuts or cheese in vain. Apart from that I would highly recommend this hotel!

Hi Monika,
Thank you for the taking the time to post regarding your recent experience with us.

I was happy to read that after a shaky start we were able to resolve that issue for you and have you enjoy the rest of your stay.

I have passed on your comments to our new Executive Chef for his review; we are currently reviewing our menu offerings for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, to ensure that it is consistent quality.

We have to agree though, that we are in Paradise and that we are spoilt with the choice of restaurants in town, which is only a 5 minute walk away.
Thank you again for your feedback, your feedback has helped us identify, training needs and areas for improvement.

Kind regards,
