“Excellent value in Port Douglas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

We stayed 3 nights in one of the hotel rooms and found the room very clean and comfortable. It was excellent value compared to most of the accomodation we looked at. It is a 5 minute drive out of town but suited us well. A 15 minute walk takes you to a great pub, restaurant and the beach. The pool is beautiful as is the tropical gardens all around the villas. The balcony was a real bonus.

We stayed in a 3 bed villa last week. There was plenty of room for everyone with all rooms of a good size. All rooms were airconditioned and very comfortable.

There are two bathrooms upstairs with an ensuite and an extra toilet downstairs which was handy to not have to go upstairs to use.

There were plenty of utensils/crockery etc in the kitchen. We did have an issue with our toaster and it was replaced quickly. The 3 bed unit had an 8 seater dining table which was spacious and handy for entertaining.

The unit backed onto the sea temple golf course so great for golf lovers. The golf club breaky and facilities were very nice.

We have stayed in Port previously, everywhere seems to have ant problems. We found that using some spray and wipe on the kitchen benches kept them at bay. But really they weren't that bad compared to the place we stayed last time.

The pool is quite large with several several different sections and depths. Perfect for children of any age. The managers offer great rental bicycles and golf clubs if need be. Johnno was great and a wealth of information as he is a 20 year port local.

It is out of town, but if you don't have a car a shuttle bus is available from the front desk every half hour on the hour.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at paradise links and would recommend it to families that like some space and in a modern setting.

Paradise Links is pretty good, actually, its better than that, its great. I stayed there 6 days with my family and I was looking for stuff to dislike, I found a few, but only because I was looking.

Check in was a breeze, the staff were friendly and had the portacot and highchair in the room on our arrival.

Ok, heres one of the problems, if you have a large car, like we did, then you may not be able to park it in your allocated space. We have a CX-7, not the largest car, but not small and we could barely get it in the space, if you have a Prado or 100 Series forget about it. Also our front gate to our unit didn't shut properly.

We had a 2 bedroom villa and friends of ours stayed in the 3 bedroom villa. They are very well appointed, the bedrooms upstairs (with spa bath). I am fussy with pillows and they had a few selections. The bed was firm but not hard, it was advertised as a king but it was a queen, two single in the other.

There were 2 ensuites adjoining the bedrooms upstairs and a separate toilet downstairs, so you didn't have to go upstairs any time you wanted to use the facilities.

There is a full kitchen and laundry, a dishwasher, gas cooktop, full size fridge, wall oven and lots of cupboard space and utensils.

There is plenty of room downstairs for a full family and guests.

There are two pools, we only got to one, but really, this was 4 pools in one so you never felt crowded even though there were a few people there.

Overall this stay was so pleasant and relaxing I can't wait to go back. They do a locals rate and our friends found there rate on Groupon or a website similar.

Room Tip: Choose a room with double car park if you have a large car.

Paradise Links Resort is a lovely hotel if the expectations are set correctly. This is more of a service apartment than a hotel, which means: no cleaning service, no additional bathroom products, no breakfast, etc.

We stayed in a one bedroom hotel room (without the kitchenette and laundry). If I were to do it again, I would book in a larger villa to include at least the laundry in order to wash the towels.

Other than that slight inconvenience, the hotel grounds are beautiful and the location is convenient (Very close to the beach). The walk to town takes about an hour, but there is also a shuttle service I've been told.

The manager was knowledgable about the area, the diving, the restaurants, etc. and extremely helpful when planning our outtings.

Also, a major plus- SPACIOUS BATHROOMS!

Two bedroom, two bathroom villa looking over the golf course in a gated community. High standard of furnishing throughout, with a really well equipped kitchen.
The resort has its own swimming pool and is about a 10 min walk from the beach. You can walk to town along the beach (about an hour).
Lovely communal grounds with tennis, bbq.
Staff well informed about local companies providing trips.
Bus goes from resort to centre of town.
Two excellent restaurants within walking distance (Otz and the Beach Shack).
Beware there are no street lights on the route to Otz!

We discovered Paradise Links online and the photos looked very good, so we booked a 3 bedroom for 5 nights at the last minute. We arrived around 7.30pm and although reception wasn't open we found the self checkin very easy with guidance from Emma on the reception telephone. The apartment was clean spacious and well presented, All the facilities were good and the beds comfortable. The best part of waking in the morning was looking out over the golf links next door, the peace and quiet only broken by the curlews and kingfishers and the gentle thud of a coconut or frond dropping off the palm trees close by.
We had a hire car which made it easy to pop into the town, but the shuttle bus also runs closeby every half hour. The variety and size of apartments and units allows a good range of groups whether couples, family or singles. It may be a little further out than some would like and it isn't as close to the beach as some other resorts we've stayed in (still easy walking distance), but it was my fourth visit to Port Douglas and the accommodation and helpful staff made our stay one of the best. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask Emma or Johnno what outlook and how rooms are furnished, each apartment is probably a little dif...

We enjoyed our short stay in this resort. The room was clean and pretty with a balcony opening to the resort's garden. Very nice and relaxing. Staff were very friendly and helpfull for planning a trip around. There is a bus going to city centre and you also can hire a bike. I would recommend checking for last minute deals during this season in Port Douglas as we succeded booking this nice place for a very reasonable price.
