“Good location although not enough room for the amount of people it can cater for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for 8 days over New Years, and had a overall ok experience. The location is great as its a short walk to both the main road, restraunts, beach and marina. The resort however needs some work. The shower never worked properly went constantly from boiling hot to freezing cold. And if u can stay here when it's quiet that is the only major problem. But if its busy, there are not enough car spaces for the amount of guests, not enough anything for the amount of guests actually. If you can avoid, it breakfast is basic fruit and cereal ours was free for our stay but would have been $19 a morning otherwise (there a cafe's a short walk with better value)! And even if you want breakfast, there are not enough tables for everyone, so finding a spot to sit is a painfull experience. Don't plan on using the barbecues at dinner time a there are 2 per side of the resort and most nights were taken. Otherwise the service was pleasent and nice.

“One of the nicest places I've ever stayed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

The resort is the most relaxing place I've stayed. Very quiet throughout the day and at night. My partner had a 90min massage in the spa and said it was definately worth the money ($150) But book early as its popular. The position of the resort is also good as its close to the Main Street where the bars, shops and restaurants are! I would definately return to port Douglas and the hibiscus resort as we have had such a lovely time x

“Nice boutique base for Port Douglas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Having had a bit of a horror encounter with some Huntsmen spiders at our hotel up in Daintree, we decamped rapidly to Port Douglas and found this place (spider free thank God!). I really liked it (though it was quite pricey) - halfway between the beach and the marina, with the main shopping street a short walk away. A bit strange that they shut reception at 6pm, but that was our only niggle. We didn't have time to try the pool as we were too busy snorkelling on the Barrier Reef, but it looked like a lovely spot to relax from what I saw. The room was excellent - good kitchen, big telly, clean and spacious with sunbeds on our little terrace. And we got a free bottle of champagne - it turned out it was a mistake but they let us keep it - nice touch!

“Noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights back in May. Upon arriving the staff where more than helpful and the setting was really beautiful. It is a great spot very handy to everything.
Our room had a common door with the appartment next door, unfortuanately we were able to hear every noise from them, it sounded like they were in our room.
There are lovely timber louvers instead of glass windows which look beauiful but are really not practical, as you hear every noise from the street, so maybe ask for a room at the back not on the street.

“Beautiful, Relaxing & Convienent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

2013 will be our 4th stay at HibiscusGardens Resort. The management & staff are very friendly, accommodation clean, airy & comfortable. We have stayed in March, April & May and did not even need the airconditioning, it was so beautiful to have fresh air and listen to the rain falling on the trees. We both just loved the variety of exotic fruits etc at breakfast. The endulgence package was well worth it, just loved the spa treatments so much so had another before we finish our week. The proximity to Macrossan Street is a real bonus and even in the rain it is just a very short trip up the street to excellent restaurants. There are not a lot of street lights but we always take a torch so when it was a little dull with the rain it was very easy to get around at night. One has to keep in mind that the majority of staff in the Port are backpackers but that is what gives the place a unique charm to contact so many young internationals who are there to experience our country and far north queensland. We just love staying a Hibiscus and can recommend it from our experiences.

Room Tip: Ask where your room will be located the higher the better but remember there are stairs to most room...
