“Roomy, Quality bedding and furnishings, Clean and Great Pool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I was surprised by the quality of the bedding (nice sheets, very comfy mattresses, good new pillows) and the very white bath towels in plentiful supply for our weeks stay. Our 2 bedroom apartment/ 2 bathrooms apartment with balcony was very spacious with enough room to invite our travel companions over for dinner or lounging about. Its simple-in a clean, uncluttered way-but has everything you need including great washing machine and dryer, dishwasher etc.

The pool is a great feature-Big, clean and with a spa. The 2 big outdoor shaded tables are perfect for when you want to eat by the pool-Or just be sitting up at the table instead of lounging about-You can easily just camp out all day this way-bringing down your drinks or meals...and there's a BBQ with all tools and condiments provided and even a fridge, by the pool. I particularly like that there's a small grass and shady bit of the poolside, which gives a little restful zone to the poolside-for shade or for the kids to roll about on.

I'd recommend this place for any families who don't want over priced holidays but get a good clean modern place, with a great pool-And You don't get the big winds blowing off the sea as the sea front places seem to suffer from. Its just a 5 mins walk to the beach and to the shops.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies out to the pool could help you not feel so hidden away in comparison to the roo...

Port Douglas was very busy due to people coming to view the solar eclipse. We could not stay where we had previously stayed, due to accommodation being booked out, so booked Central Plaza, which was a good move.

We had a nice large cool apartment for a week. The Central Plaza is in a good location, and has a pool, small spa and bbq area. The apartment also has a washing machine, dryer and stove.

The owners were very helpful and friendly.

We must have been the only people in Port Douglas that knew nothing of the solar eclipse until we stopped at Palm Cove en route from Cairns! What a fantastic bonus :-)

The apartment was easy to locate and we were pleasantly surprised with the size. That said, the smaller twin bedroom was more suitable for children than two adults, but we only really used it as a base.

We were on the ground floor opposite the pool/spa/BBQ area which was handy, but we did experience noise from the car park outside.

We used the pool most days and had a couple of lovely poolside BBQs, watching the flying foxes after the sun had set.

The main shopping area with its plethora of bars and often quirky and unusual shops was a pleasant 10 minutes walk away. Four Mile Beach (where we watched the eclipse) was also quite close, as was Port Douglas Marina which is a must!

Do talk to Fiona about ANY trips you want to do; we had planned a trip to Green Island but she strongly advised a Quicksilver trip to the Outer Reef and we had a fantastic and truly memorable day.

Room Tip: Probably not a good idea to be by the car park, especially if you have children.

We were 2 adults and 2 teenagers to see the solar eclipse. When we walked in, the place was so much more than we expected: spacious, luxurious and well appointed. Fiona was most helpful even though we arrived late. Very relaxed atmosphere. We made use of the magnificent pool everyday. The whole complex never felt busy. On the days we wanted to go to the marina, we took the car, but one could easily walk the distance (we had dive gear to carry). Renting the scooters on the premises was a highlight.

Stayed here in October with my wife and our 1 year old. Fiona and Iain were great to communicate with before arrival, organising our transfers from Carins airport and giving us complimentary use of a port-a-cot for our stay. They were also able to help us with tours suitable for young families and also gave us a few tips, like bringing your shopping trolley all the way back to the apartments! The location is great, less than ten mins with a stroller to the main street ( a little further to the marina) and about 5 mins to the beach again with a stroller . We headed to the beach every morning after our little one woke for a play in the shallows, unbelievable how warm the water was at 6am! The pool is huge, although a little on the cool side probably due to the overcast weather we had at the time. The apartments are clean and well equipped, with air con and fans throughout, and the bbq by the pool was great for dinner. And the tariff was quite reasonable, booked direct, when compared with other similar apartments. All in all a great place to stay, had everything we needed in a great loacation, and we will be returning here on our next visit to PD.

Room Tip: We stayed in a 2BR on the top floor (third level) which was tough with an infant, lugging prams and...

What can I say ! What a wonderful stay we had at Central Plaza in Port Douglas their serviced apartments were just right for our family.
Everything was walking distance and we are definitely planning another stay next year.
Our morning walks consisted of a short stroll (8 min) walk to the beautiful restaurants & cafes for delicious breakfast. Back to the resort for a swim, prepared lunch in our apartment as everything we wanted was available to cook for the family. The BBQ facilities were clean and in the right position to enjoy a BBQ lunch by the pool. By dinner we would head out again into town for a nice meal.
To add to this four mile beach is only a 5 minute walk. I highly recommend Central Plaza Port Douglas.
