“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Good value self contained apartments. Is just a few min walk from the city centre and beach. The staff here were fantastic and are a great source of advice on the different tours available and book them for you free of charge. Only down side that I could see is that the kitchen could use a few more cooking utensils.

Stayed there for 5 nights October 2012,
The 1 bed apartment was very clean well equipped and peaceful.
We always expect the worse and anything else is a bonus this was a very pleasant and unexpected bonus. Not to far from the shops and resteraunt, and within a short stroll of the beach. The pools were clean and very quite and best of all no screaming children !
The rooms were spotless and well maintained I really could not find fault with the rooms / complex at all.
Good value for money and I would defiantly stay there again.
We also recommend eating at the "2 Fish" Resteraunt on Wharf Street close to the Church and Market.
The food was worthy of any high end Resteraunt and reasonably priced.
Also take a trip on the Quicksilver Reef tour
Don't be put off by the large vessels and larger crowd, they have a pontoon anchored at the Great Barrier Reef and the day spent there is truly awesome !
Port Douglas was relatively quite while we were there but defiantly a place to visit for couples and I would recommend Bay Villas Resort.

We stayed here for a week in October. Location is good, 10 minutes easy walk from the centre of town. The 1 bedroom apartment we had was spacious and overlooked the small pool. Good cooking facilites. The cane lounge was uncomfortable but other furniture was adequate. The cheap plastic venetians went up fine. Getting them down again was a challenge. We left them down after the first couple of times. There are two pools and two bbq areas in the complex. The pool below us was small but quite nice. Our bbq was out of order all week. The other one would have been more awkward to carry our stuff to so we didn't bother. The neighbours in the property next door were permanents and were a noise problem every afternoon and most evenings we were there. Stereo noise and playstation barracking by a group of young guys. We enjoyed our stay, but the noise was a problem.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the main road are probably less affected by the neighbours.

We enjoyed our stay for three nights here. The resort is 10 mins walk to the shops. If you are In Port Douglas on a Sunday there is a very good market there. We found that we could just use the ceiling fan at night with the doors and windows open as they have screens on them. - Less noise and better quality air! The room was clean. But if you really want privacy this isn't the place for you as the rooms face other balconies. Also take some soap and shampoo and there is none in the rooms. And if you are elderly or disabled ask for a ground floor room as there are no lifts. It would have also been good if there had been free Wifi in an area. But the resort is very good value for money compared to others and we would go back there.

Was the best deal in port douglas when i booked it. Clean, with average amenities. We found the reception closed at 10PM and took us a while to find an envelope with our key and instructions. The normal gas barbeque did not work, the 'australian' one was a chalenge to me (not real barbeque). Goog price though. We didn't look for luxury and got a decent place for two nights as a base for driving north.

We were highly disappointed in the Bay Villas. It was adequate, but that's about it. The bed was rock hard. The "amenities" included shampoo and soap. No conditioner, no lotion, not even a box of facial tissue! The "rules" seem to be all about how to make it easier for housekeeping rather than how to enjoy your stay in the apartments. There are very few dishes-4 place settings, no sharp knives, no baking sheets, not even any napkins. We had to run the dishwasher everyday, just to have enough dishes for breakfast and there were only two of us! There isn't a cutting board or a knife sharp enough to cut a frozen pizza.

It was fairly clean, except for the mold On the bathroom ceiling. Also, there are only two towels, so if you want more than one towel each for your stay, you will have to wash them yourself. And they charge for the soap!

This place nickel and dimes like crazy- even charging for phone calls. The pool water is green, we didn't dare go in it.

Oh....and one last thing....you can't turn your Air conditioning down below 24 or it may flood. (according to notes by every remote.). I would not recommend this place.

My husband summed it up best when he said "we drove by a lot of really nice places to get here.". Skip this- go somewhere else.
