“Nice Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I would like to say that my husband and I have just come back from having 9 days at the Mai Tai Resort. I cannot fault the service given by the Hosts - on the day we arrived they both made us feel really welcome, and when we were out at night for dinner or doing day trips around we were always greeted and asked how our day went and how dinner was etc. I felt this was a nice touch that added to the feeling of the whole experience. It made us feel special and that our hosts were interested in what we had been doing - they were also really helpful with advice as to where to go and recommendations for different restaurants in Mossman along with various attractions in the area.

I really liked the fact that the Resort is Adults only which I did not know prior to arriving and I must say how nice it was not to have kids running around squealing etc. I would highly recommend the resort for couples who need to get away and have some down time.

Very hard to share words that have not already been said by previous guests. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Anthony we new we were going to enjoy our time at Mai Tai. We were ready to relax at the end of a busy year. Our hosts seemed to perceive our need for calm and managed to help us relax and unwind without seeming to do so.

After a couple of days we were ready to explore the wonderful Daintree and hinterland, so Anthony and André helped us to plan our days. Their local knowledge is fantastic, our first big tip - listen to their advice on tours and exploration, they have been in the region for 10 years, and have the taste and experience to give excellent recommendations.

Tip 2 - If you are considering dining in Port Douglas or Mossman, talk to André and Anthony, they did not steer us wrong with our dining plans, phoned ahead for us and ensured we were well received, fed and watered by every restaurant they recommended.

Tip 3 - Take the time to enjoy the location and surrounds at Mai Tai. Breakfast on the patio looking over the hinterland, with the canefields in the mid ground and Coral Sea in the distance is pure relaxation. The wildlife is all around from the hanging nests of the Metalic Starlings to the gecko in our outdoor shower - all part of the environment. The fruit, home made jams, croissants, and fresh coffee all add to the joy of breakfast on the patio.

The genuine Bali decor, privacy of each room, and overall ambiance complete the experience which all adds up to an ultimately relaxing break away from the Port Douglas down town crowds.

We will be back. They deserve their TripAdvisor number one rating.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms with the outdoor shower are great.

More than 6 months ago we stayed three nights with Andre and Anthony...and we are still singing their praises! We wished so much that we could have stayed longer. We arrived in the evening, to be greeted by our concerned hosts. Upon our arrival they immediately made calls to arrange our dinner at Mojo's Bar and Grill, an amazing restaurant in nearby Mossman. While we were dining, they were busy arranging our activities for our next few days. It was all spectacular. When back from our adventures we relaxed around the pool amid the sensuous Tai decor. Amazing personal touches were everywhere!
While Anthony and Andre were always available and attentive, we also found that they were very respectful of our privacy. At breakfast time both the food and the conversation with our hosts were delightful.

Room Tip: All are outstanding.

Chosen from Trip Advisor and it proved to be as good as the reviews. Spectacular views comfortable room and great service from Anthony and Andre Trips to Danetree and The reef were arranged with excellent operators. Need a car as it is miles from Port Douglas and/or Mossman but all the better for it. My only beef was the fact that wi fi was a bit feeble to reach our room. Will certainly recommend it to all friends who need to stay in the area.

Hi Robert & Carol - thank you so much for your review - its so appreciated to hear your positive response. Sorry about the wifi - we certainly realise how important it is these days for guests to be connected. This is indeed being fixed this week and all new equipment is being installed so hopefully even the Villa on top of the mountain will get wifi connection.

We had a wonderful time at the Mai Tai Resort this November, in beautiful surroundings and very close to Port Douglas, the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rainforest. I travel a lot and this is one of the best places I have visited. It is the second time I have been there and it was just as good as the first - with the added benefit of a total eclipse. Anthony and Andre are great hosts - they really take care of you and are helpful, entertaining and able to advise on what to do.

Hi Michael & Heather - great to see you both arrived back to UK safe and sound - guess you will be missing the tropics - i've heard you've received a lot of snow this year. It's always a pleasure to have guests return back to Mai Tai and especially nice we got to meet Heather this year. Take care and all the best for 2013.

Mai Tai Resort was our saviour after we had originally booked 5 nights at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas only to be confronted with a 1980's relic that stunk of 20 years of dirty feet. We were So appalled that we desperately looked on Trip Advisor to find the no. 1 ranked hotel/ resort for Port Douglas. Mai Tai was it, and after frantically calling them numerous times and even allowing us the option to come and see if Mai Tai was right for us, we ended up with 3 beautiful days there. The rooms are so well presented and the outdoor shower is just lovely after a humid day. Mai Tai felt like home, and we were treated so well by Anthony and Andre, that we felt our holiday would not have been the same without them. They are honest and gentle and their love for the their pets was endearing! It only has a few rooms, does not cater for kids and you need a car to get here, but its worth it just for the hospitality and tranquility!

Thanks to our hosts Antony and Andre for providing us with the highlight of our holiday in FNQ. Our accommodation was total luxury in an exquisite setting overlooking the verdant valley of Mossman with the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation framing the northern horizon. Our view easily seen from every room of our villa. Mornings would greet us with a symphony of rainforest birdsong inviting us to embrace the day and make the most of this truly wonderful region of Australia.
Thanks guys for starting our day with warm conversation, invaluable advise, a delicious breakfast and the kind of personal attention impossible to find in any hotel or resort. You have created a true shangri la; unique, comfortable, spotlessly clean and an unsurpassed attention to detail.

Room Tip: The executive villa is luxury personified with valley and mountain views from every room, a huge bat...
