I can see how this is rated No1 in Port Douglas. The hosts Andre and Anthony were wonderful, rooms were clean and designed beautifully and the location absolutely stunning!
We spent 6 nights here and were delighted with all aspects of our stay.
A car is a must here, and on occasion it was a little annoying to drive down to Port Douglas - and difficult if you both want to drink with dinner.
This is the place to unwind and really forget about day to day stresses.

We had a fabulous and relaxing time staying at Mai Tai thanks to the great hospitality of the hosts. This resort has a very calming and relaxed feel with lots of adorable dogs and cats adding to the atmosphere. If you are looking for a quiet place with amazing views this place is for you! The staff is very knowledgeable about the available trip options and was very helpful in helping us maximize our time in Port Douglas. This resort is 5 minutes from mossman gorge which has amazing water holes and is perfect for cooling down in the hot weather - we went several times. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful holiday.

Anthony and Andre deserve a lot of respect in the way they handle their guest house!!!

If you're going to Port Douglas, stay in the rainforest. You can stay in a soulless commercial resort like the ones in Port Douglas proper in thousands of places around the world, but Mai Tai is a rare Bed and Breakfast style retreat nestled right in the trees about 15 minutes drive out of town. You aren't allowed to knock down rainforest to build hotels, so Mai Tai is lucky to even exist. The owners, Anthony and Andre, told us it was repurposed from a girls finishing school.

Anthony and Andre were the perfect hosts. They have only 5 rooms, which means they can personalise everything, and it also means that the place has an amazing serenity. Mai Tai has an amazing Balinese theme with an attention to detail that is a pleasure to behold.

If you do stay here, make sure that on at least one night you go outside and give your eyes 15 minutes to adjust to the night and then look up at the stars. With zero light pollution, a clear North Queensland sky will blow the mind of city folk :)
