“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Set high in the rainforest with spectacular views of mountains and the Coral Coast, Mai Tai Resort was an amazing, relaxing retreat for us. As soon as we arrived we were delighted with the atmosphere and visual bliss of the wonderfully decorated Balinese inspired setting. Feeling at home and very relaxed the moment we arrived we had further delights in store, ascending the last steps under the moonlight to our Executive villa, WOW! Our private Oasis was waiting for us.
Thank you Anthony, Andre', Josephine and your beautiful Pets Tara, Eros, Cleo, Prinz and Yazmin you made our stay memorable and Greg and I highly recommend to stay at Mai Tai Resort for a unique, romantic HEAVEN on EARTH experience.

Room Tip: Executive Villa ia amazing

Hi Caron & Greg - although only a short stay it was wonderful to meet you both and we hope to see you both at Mai Tai again. Thank you so much for your lovely response and we pleased to hear you loved our beautiful Executive Villa.

I can see how this is rated No1 in Port Douglas. The hosts Andre and Anthony were wonderful, rooms were clean and designed beautifully and the location absolutely stunning!
We spent 6 nights here and were delighted with all aspects of our stay.
A car is a must here, and on occasion it was a little annoying to drive down to Port Douglas - and difficult if you both want to drink with dinner.
This is the place to unwind and really forget about day to day stresses.

We had a fabulous and relaxing time staying at Mai Tai thanks to the great hospitality of the hosts. This resort has a very calming and relaxed feel with lots of adorable dogs and cats adding to the atmosphere. If you are looking for a quiet place with amazing views this place is for you! The staff is very knowledgeable about the available trip options and was very helpful in helping us maximize our time in Port Douglas. This resort is 5 minutes from mossman gorge which has amazing water holes and is perfect for cooling down in the hot weather - we went several times. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful holiday.

If heaven exists, for sure Mai thai is part of it.
Anthony and Andre deserve a lot of respect in the way they handle their guest house!!!
They look to perfectionism in everything they do.
We feel immediately at home and where deeply impressed by the beautiifull place ,the kind assistance and service .

If you're going to Port Douglas, stay in the rainforest. You can stay in a soulless commercial resort like the ones in Port Douglas proper in thousands of places around the world, but Mai Tai is a rare Bed and Breakfast style retreat nestled right in the trees about 15 minutes drive out of town. You aren't allowed to knock down rainforest to build hotels, so Mai Tai is lucky to even exist. The owners, Anthony and Andre, told us it was repurposed from a girls finishing school.

Anthony and Andre were the perfect hosts. They have only 5 rooms, which means they can personalise everything, and it also means that the place has an amazing serenity. Mai Tai has an amazing Balinese theme with an attention to detail that is a pleasure to behold.

If you do stay here, make sure that on at least one night you go outside and give your eyes 15 minutes to adjust to the night and then look up at the stars. With zero light pollution, a clear North Queensland sky will blow the mind of city folk :)

Room Tip: Some rooms have outside bathrooms, some have inside bathrooms. Get one with an outside bathroom.

Mai Tai sits on a hillside about 15 minutes drive north of Port Douglas, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, and probably has more charm than anywhere else in the area.
The setting is peaceful, with fabulous views, but what sets it apart from other places is the care that the owners, Andre and Anthony, take to make your stay comfortable. It was a pleasure to stay with them and I recommend it to anyone.
Perfect for couples and those after a relaxing break.

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing break to Port Douglas and we certainly found one by staying at Mai Tai Resort. From the asian inspired rooms to the wonderfully fresh breakfasts (with a great view), we found our hosts Anthony and Andre delivered a great value stay in the Port Douglas/Mossman area. We echo what other previous positive reviews have said. Our personal highlights were the room with the huge comfy bed and its outdoor tropical shower (a must if you can get one of these), the recommendations from our hosts (extremely helpful), and the day bed around the pool area. An added bonus was the little sunbird that visited us every morning.
We'll definitely recommend this to friends and family.
