Had we known a bit more of what we had booked from Expedia, it may have been better. First off, this is clearly not a resort. It is an apartment complex with a basic pool. For an apartment, I would rate it 3.5-4 stars, for a resort, 1-2 stars at most (only extras beyond the room are the pool and a BBQ grill you can use), so averages to 3 stars.
The apartment is further away from downtown than most of the other non-resort locations. The bus situation is crazy. Can take a bus, but $3/person 1 way, and no real schedule. Supposedly runs every 15 minutes, but often stand there for 30min waiting. There are 2 bus companies, so cannot really buy the day pass ($10) since they do not honor each other's passes. Also confusing as to which bus is arriving. SO end up paying each journey, and waiting and waiting. Many of the drivers are not the friendliest of souls.
People at reception extremely friendly.
Room (2 bedrooms, both small but functional) respectable, clean (although does have somewhat of a musty old-book type smell)
AC and fans in each room.
Nice balcony overlooking some trees and a field.
Price good for the amount of room for a family (under $200/night)
Wireless internet available (at a cost $40/3 days, limited downloads)
Fairly good walk into town to do or eat anything (just under 1 kilometer), 15 minutes. Bus option annoying (see above).
2 blocks from the ocean.
Has it been called "Reef Apartments" would have been rated higher, but obviously would not seem as fancy on the internet.
No room service included. So towels are provided, but unless you pay extra for room service, you need to wash them yourselves in the laundry room which is in the garage area (3 units each washer and dryer, $3 per load for each machine, occasionally all being used and people not very conscious of removing their completed loads in a timely fashion). Extra tiny shampoos are charged for.
No restaurant. Closest edible areas in town (1 bad pizza carryout across street, and OK chinese rest a block away).
Reception area only open 8:30a-5p.
1 very small TV in room.
No deadbolt on doors (maybe not needed?)
Very limited drawer space (like 3 tiny drawers in each of 2 closets for whole apartment)
No lifts (so if on third floor like we were, bit of a drag dragging your luggage and laundry up and down the 30 steps to the apartment).
I'd like to rate this higher, due to the very friendly staff and relatively inexpensive cost (esp. compared to the real resorts), but this truly is an apartment (like many of the other "resorts" in the area), certainly not a "club resort".
