This hotel was a real pleasant surprise. Very close to lovely town and beach. Could not fault it and wished we had stayed longer.

I don't know how we can improve on the comments already made. We were welcomed at hotel reception with a cool drink and ice cold flannel to freshen up whilst we booked in. The owners Sheryn and Phil were very attentive and showed us to our room pointing out the facilities including the complimentary laundry room on our floor which we found very useful. Our 'suite' was small but beautifully furnished and very comfortable - a quirky arrangement with moveable 'walls'. Our balcony overlooked the Four Mile Beach which was lovely and the sea breezes were very welcome. We slept with the balcony door open to hear the sea. The hotel's restaurant is very good but there are a number of great eating places on Macrossan Street nearby. Port Douglas is a great base to enable you to visit the Great Barrier Reef and the Rainforest. The harbour area is good and there are great views over the water to the mountains from Anzac Park.

Stayed here for six nights with a friend prior to doing a trip on the Barrier Reef. It was one of the most friendly and well thought out hotels that I had ever stayed in. The rooms were large, very well equipped with kitchenette and sitting area, and a large balcony.
There were complimentary laundry faciities on every floor, which was a real boon when travelling for some time. Sheryn and her husband Phil, the owners, were unfailingly pleasant, helpful, friendly and efficient, aided by Mal in the Restaurant and Rupa on Reception.
The swimming pool area, although small, was well designed with a choice of sunbathing areas on various levels.
Breakfast buffet was laid out by the pool and was varied and excellent. The Hi Tides cafe/restaurant, open throughout the day, overlooked the ocean, and served both delicious and imaginative food. Again the service was excellent.

The location of the hotel, just at the end of Macrossan Street, and right on the beach front, could not be bettered, very convenient for all the shops and restaurants in town. The hotel had a wealth of information on all available trips and a booking service, and also provided transport to and from Cairns Airport.
All in all, this was a very friendly, comfortable, well located, good value hotel, which I have no hesitation in recommending. Cannot wait to return one day!

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and booked it with Trailfinders. They classify it with 5 stars, however in reality it should only possibly scrape 4 stars.
Don`t get me wrong its not a bad hotel but the term "boutique" can sometimes be a little misleading.
On arrival the owner was very welcoming and she showed us to our room which was large, comfortable and had a pool view.
The decor in the room is a little dated but the room itself is certainly well equiped.
However we were told not to turn the air con down below 25 degrees as that might cause the unit to condense - 25 degrees is not cool enough and it begs th question why not simply fix the air con so that you can turn it down below 25 degrees?!
The facilities at the hotel are a little limited; certainly the pool is adequate and well designed but the bar area was very poor with only a very small 5 foot serving area and a few bar stools it really can`t be called a bar. Added to that is the fact that it appears to close by 9pm each evening (which is incidentally when room service stops).
This apparent closing down of facilities at the hotel from 9pm onwards was highlighted when we ate dinner at the restaurant on our first night. We booked a table for 8pm but were rushed through our dessert, my plate was taken away before my wife had finished her meal, the bill arrived without us requesting the same, and when at 9.15pm we went into the bar for a night cap they were cashing up!
Also the food was a little disappointing, although to be fair to the hotel it was inexpensively priced.
This isn`t a bad hotel but the fact that the front door, reception and the bar closes from 9pm onwards, that most of the guests were over 50 makes it feel like a B and B from years gone by. If you want a stylish and trendy hotel with truely 5 star facilities then I could not in all honesty recommend the Peninsula.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed three nights in this hotel after arriving in Australia and it was a great start to the trip. The hotel location is excellent in the heart of Port Douglas with everything including the four mile beach right on your doorstep. Our room was fabulous and quite romantic. The hotel staff and management couldnt have been nicer. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is staying in Port Douglas.

Fully support the excellent reviews this hotel has received. The design of the pool area is magical and the arrangement of the hotel rooms around the pool area is fantastic. To say more would be just repeating what others have iterated

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with open arms. Our room was excellently appointed and contained more than we could ever have required. The staff were friendly, informative, humourous and extremely polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them.Sheryn and Phil the owners made a point of introducing themselves and Rupa on reception was more than helpful in recommending and booking tours. Breakfast by the pool was idyllic and the evening meal was exceptional. Sitting on our patio drinking wine and listening to the ocean was magical.A truly wonderful hotel.
