“A Lovely Place to Rest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

I went up to Port Douglas for the marathon.
I found everything to be lovely and the staff to be helpful and friendly.
The room was beautiful.
This is the place to go for peace and relaxation, right on the door step of Four Mile Beach.
I was visiting family. If this is the case for you, just be aware that they are not a hotel for children/wish children to be visiting guests.
Although they were very accommodating of us, I just wasn't aware of this fact when booking and it can be an important point.
If I am coming up by myself, I will definitely book here.

We stayed for 5 nights in November, in a ground floor unit, with it's own private courtyard including sun lounge and outdoor dining setting. The gardens are beautiful and Antonia attends these daily adding fresh flowers to the water features, making you feel very spoilt. The pool is small but very tranquil and relaxing which we found lovely after our daily sightseeing trips. Fred and Antonia are extremely helpful and available to help in any way possible to make your holiday memorable. There is fresh cooled water in the courtyard of the hotel with a comfy lounge to sit and read the books provided. There is also an ice machine which was great for our drinks in the afternoon to unwind with. They also gave great advice on local restaurants which were plentiful and all within a very short walking distance. The rooms are quite spacious and were clean and comfortable, with a lovely Maroccan feel. Parking was undercover at no extra charge. The location is amazing, a short walk from the beach and is very close to the main shopping area where you will find some good bargains. The room we were allocated was ideal for an elderly couple or disabled person, however as we are still quite fit, we would probably request an upstairs unit which is a a little more removed from the entry courtyard of the hotel. All in all, we loved our stay and could not fault the wonderful and personal service Fred and Antonia extended to us.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are well suited to persons unable to climb the stairs (especially in the heat), h...

We stayed for almost a week. The location is superb. Very near town but not noisy at all, Very close to the beach. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well maintened. We enjoyed sitting on our little lania and listening to the birds while we had coffee in the morning. The grounds and pool area are also well maintained and very inviting. There is a barbecue if you would like to barbecue and there is a laundry for the guests which we found very helpful. The hosts were outstanding and seemed to love what they do. They helped us pick out a few tours that were top notch and really enhanced our visit there and had some good recommendations for restaurants. The only thing they don't have is daily maid service but if that is really important to you I think you can get it for a small fee.

Room Tip: we had an upper room in the back. Fred helped us with our luggage because they don't have a lif...

My husband and I stayed in one of the apartments in November 2013 for a few days and were pleasantly surprised at the welcome we received and the beautiful apartment. The location was perfect - just a short distance from the beach and close enough to the town to walk in. However, it was very quiet. Fred and Antonia were gracious hosts and in order to make our stay memorable, nothing was too much trouble. They offered advice on trips, which was very welcome, yet they didn't make us feel we were being pushed into anything. Their suggestions helped us make the most of a stay that was much too short! I would heartily recommend this to anyone.

Wonderful Location, Condition and Hospitality.
The hotel is located just steps from the 4 miles beach and in walkable distance to supermarket (Coles) and the town with all the restaurants, bar and shops, while it keeps a small distance that we don't get to hear the noise. The hosts - Fred and Antonio are very friendly and helpful. The room is neat, BIG and fully equipped. It's exactly the same as the pictures on the official website. It comes with a dining room, living room and separate sleeping area. It has a kitchen with all the things you need (fridge, sink, dishes, pans, kettle, coffee maker etc) for simple dishes as it doesn't have kitchen hood. Instead, there's a BBQ grill in the common area guests can use. Would definitely come back next time we visit Port Douglas.

Thank you for making our stay in Port Douglas the highlight of our entire trip to Australia - yes of course, Sydney and Melbourne are great - but that was expected - Port Douglas and the Martinique on Macrossan was a total surprise; recommended by an Aussie acquaintance - and when you get a local telling you were to say - you listen! And for good reason; the wonderful owners, Antonia and Fred, whose friendly insight and recommendations made an already special trip that much more so! This boutique hotel is clean, super convenient, both to the beach (wonderful morning walks on Four Mile Beach), and right on the main shopping/dining street, Macrossan - who could ask for more! I cannot remember when I was so much looking forward to returning both to a place, and to a hotel - Thank you all, the entire community of Port Douglas - you are a gem (or in this wonderful case, an opal!)...

Room Tip: All the rooms seem great, if you prefer being above the pool, just ask for that, otherwise, you cann...

The Martinique is special, a unique little spot owned by two very special people-
Antonia and Fred will give you all the knowledge you need to make the most of
what this stepping stone to the Reef and my personal favourite the amazing
rainforest has to offer...yet never intrude, or push you to accept their suggestions!

It's an attractive property, rooms are bright, clean, cool and comfortable-the garden
and lily pond are lovely, especially at night and Four Mile Beach is a couple of minutes
walk....go in the dark and watch the moon on the Coral Sea..stunning and a treat for photographers.

Across the road is a good restaurant, Zinc... Two Fish on the same side as the Matinique
served me beautiful fish meals and, most convenient, you can have most things as a
Take Away. Another recommendation up the main street (only street really) and down towards the Marina is Salsa, the food there was lipsmackingly good (Crab Linguini to die for).

It's a long trip for me, but worth every minute and every penny.....go see Fred and Antonia and
then tell me I'm wrong.....never!

Room Tip: My favourite room is number 9.
