We booked a package holiday through My QLD Holiday and stayed here for 6 nights. The package was fantastic because it included $500 of credit for food/drinks and we really enjoyed dining at the hotel - the food was delicious. The lagoon pool is amazing, the resort grounds are good and the resort is right on the beach. Its so easy to get a shuttle into the main street of port douglas too. The only negative was that the room we stayed in was a little dated. We have recommended this hotel to friends and would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I booked our holiday through myholidaycentre.com.au. We chose the Sheraton Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, for 7 nights. The entire booking process was excellent - accurate, with great assistance. The flights were included in our booking, and travel was via Qantas. As usual, we could not fault their service. We were greeted by the transfer coach on arrival at Cairns Airport and whisked away to the Sheraton, arriving approximately an hour later.
The Sheraton staff were extremely helpful and courteous and they showed us to our room
overlooking their magnificent gardens, with our bags arriving a couple of minutes later, Our room was sparkling clean, the bed extremely comfortable, and the room very private.
We spent the rest of our time there enjoying their vast and beautifully appointed pools, wonderful choice of restaurants and food, and also traveled into Port Douglas for a couple of meals there as well. Part of the deal was for two trips out to the reef. One was to the Low Isles and and two days later, to Agincourt Reef. Both were great fun and good value for money.
Sadly, all good things have to come to an end. The entire process of travel was then mirrored in the same wonderful fashion again on our way back to Melbourne.
Thank you to the MyHolidayCentre, and especially the Sheraton Mirage for making our holiday so enjoyable and so much fun.

As an aussie planning a warm beach holiday you are faced with the option of FNQ or overseas - bali, thailand or fiji. With the aussie dollar so strong you can understand why queensland is feeling the pinch as we compare 5 nights in FNQ & flights with one of those above mentioned overseas options for usually only $300 more per person.

We chose Sheraton Mirage and despite the mixed reviews we were very happy with our stay. I've stayed at similar vintage 80s built hotels like Sheraton Noosa & Reef house palm cove and you have to put in perspective that these places are showing a little age here and there. Age can be put aside as long the property and the room is clean which I couldn't fault.

Coming up in stinger season means those lagoons which are just a stones throw from your room are your main swimming enjoyment. They are big, clean and well serviced by poolside eating, a pool bar and plenty of lounges.

The service was fantastic and friendly. Something that would be nice given the distance from PD would be a free shuttle bus. But the walk along the beach is nice and if you have too many wines at dinner in PD you can always take the sun palm shuttle back to mirage at a meagre cost.

My family and I stayed here at the hotel, it was overrated. Not at all a 5 star resort including the golf course as For the reason we stayed here as i am a professional golfer. I have never seen a golf course so unkept. Their is no way this golf course is a championship course. As for the hotel never again will we stay here. The villa room was disgusting, the musky and mouldy smell absolutely ruined the stay. We tried the all you can eat at a expensive price, and yet to be disappointed again by the poor food quality. We hope in the future the Sheraton will be a 5 star resort again as we would want to stay again. We enjoyed our stay in the lovely port Douglas but only for our stay at the sheraton it was ruined.

When you walk in the lobby of this place, you begin to understand other reviews. It’s quite large and luxurious, in a late 1980s sort of way. Often times when I enter a hotel and see that it is very dated, I automatically equate it to mean unclean or dirty. However, this is not the case here. The hotel is immaculately clean, and while dated, is actually quite charming. So, GET OVER IT.

Ann, the Guest Services manager, is delightful. She made sure that our stay was fabulous. We were travelling with friends, and we got a terrific (SPG Platinum) upgrade to deluxe rooms with private balconies directly located on the lagoon. When you enter the room, complete with starfish carpets, salmon-coloured basis, lattice work, and wicker furniture, it reminds one of being on the set of the Golden Girls. Good thing it’s a funny show! It took me aback at first, but, because it was so clean, and really quite luxurious, the décor actually grows on you. We went from being skeptical at first, to converts. And, by the end of the trip, we said “we’ll be back”!

The room was very spacious, and of course the Sheraton bed was terrific. You could control all of the lights, A/C, Do Not Disturb sign from the bedside table. The only other place I’ve seen this is at Wynn Las Vegas! That’s how luxurious and wonderful this place must have been when it was built. Now, the façade crumbles a bit, but I’m sure the humidity and salt water would destroy any building in a matter of time.

The breakfast was terrific, and complimentary on account of my status. It’s quite expensive If you’re paying for (but what food in Australia isn’t expensive), so it was quite nice to have it included free of charge. It was perhaps the best breakfast buffet I have ever seen. One didn’t need lunch!

Yes, the place could use some sprucing up, but it didn’t really detract from our overall experience. Port Douglas is a lovely place, and we’ll be back to the Sheraton next time we’re on that side of the planet.

Room Tip: get a room on the lagoon
