We stayed at the Sheraton for our last 4 nights on our 3 week trip to Australia. We are so glad we did as it was so relaxing. The hotel is fanstatic and whilst some reviews have said it is dated etc wedidnt feel this way at all. It isnt necessarily modern in is decor but has all the modern facilities you would need. We had a huge room with a balcony and everything felt so luxurious. The pools are brilliant and werent ever too crowded and ample sun loungers were available. The breakfast was HUGE and delicioius and had a vast array of choices. The only downfall was its not really in walking distance to the town during the evenings once it gets dark however there is a shuttle bus although it is a little pricey. Other than that we really loved it at the resort and felt completly relaxed.

I just spent 4 days at the Sheraton port Douglas as part of my honeymoon with my husband. We are both very loyal to starwoods where we live in the US and can be particular about hotels. I have to say that the staff AND the property at this hotel made our trip incredible. I understand what other reviewers are saying about e property being a bit out dated however I am so glad that I didn't listen and still choose this hotel. Despite it needing some new modern furniture and probably carpet, the property was clean and had tons of space everywhere. Even during Christmas, a very busy travel time we were able to find private space at the beautiful lagoon pools. A few staff members made our trip extra special and clearly went out of out of their way. Andrew at reception helped us with check in and various other items we needed during the trip. He was genuine and always had a smile on his face. After we spent a day fishing we brought back 7 big fish to the pescatore restaurant. They were incredible and cooked the fish for us with the most amazing presentation and side dishes for a very small price. It was our favorite meal of the honeymoon. Malcolm our server was fantastic and told us all about the fish we caught. Lastly, Sharon at the concierge was so resourceful in helping us with bookings. What an amazing experience.

We are currently in the middle of a 2 week stay here and while the staff are nice, the place is quite sloppy. The lagoons, surrounds and rooms are fine however every day seems a battle to simply get what we order. Our room smells of cigarette smoke and after discussing with the reception we were promised an ozone treatment of the room at 10am. We waited and waited.... Nobody came. Reception rang to see how it went and when we said they didn't turn up we were told that they would get onto it. Have not heard a thing again. Room service is a joke given the price of food. Every order has had some sort of error or omission. As I type, we are 30 mins waiting for the sour cream that did not come with our soggy and cold wedges despite being told it would be sent straight up when we rang to say it was missing. Ridiculous! The staff are very friendly but nothing seems to get done and we find ourselves constantly reminding staff. It is really disappointing, sloppy and not what we expected from Sheraton. Look around at your options up here. The Sheraton name does not guarantee a Sheraton experience.

Stayed 30th Dec 2012 and could not fault our stay, we have stayed in many hotels around the world and Australia and I would put this stay at the top of our list. It truly is heaven on earth, large clean rooms, wonderful pools, and breakfast was spot on. Thank you all.........we will be back!!!!!!!
