I'm sure this hotel was once a top place to stay in Port Douglas, but it is long overdue for a refurbishment. The corner room we had was a great size, but the furnishings and fittings are very dated. The pools are enormous, but once again need a lot of attention as do the gardens. On the weekend we stayed (to attend a wedding) I got the impression that there was not enough staff rostered, particularly around the grounds. There was rubbish in and around the bins near our room on the Saturday night and it was still there on Tuesday morning. Room service trays were left out overnight and not collected prompted. I am not sure if we would stay at this resort again, but it was okay and the room was clean.

AustraliaBoo, we note your comments the resort being tired and you'll be pleased to know we are underway with our new owners on the refurbishment plans for the resorts future and have completed a prototype façade in a modern colour scheme, some structural changes with terrace and or balcony area and now working on a truly beautiful, timeless and luxurious prototype rooms perfect for the future. As this is a vast resort nestled between two world heritage sites located on 145 hectares of land with 294 guest rooms the project is immense and requires careful planning with environmental considerations and orchestration due to our remote location amongst other factors. In the meantime the resort is upgrading all our beds to the renowned Sheraton Sweet Sleepers, new oversized Flat Screen Televisions, iPod docking stations, wireless and movie system, new pool furniture amongst other upgrades to ensure your continued comfort. Our ongoing repair and maintenance program around the resort will some work on the façade and planter window boxes and carpet replacements in the interim.
