My Wife and I have stayed in the Best Hotels in the World. Paris, London, Monaco, Vienna, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Phuket, Bangkok, Bali, Rio De Janiero to name a few. The Pools at Sherton Mirage are 2nd to none. Maybe the Hotel is a little dated, but everything is Clean, the Service is great and it is very cheap these days. On a holiday, most of the time, you relax by the Pool. Nothing beats this place.

After reading reviews before our arrival I was quite worried about staying in an old dated hotel but was pleasantly surprised!

The resort complex is huge! Staff are plentiful and very friendly all making a huge effort too impress. Yes the hotel is dated and in need of refurbishment to ask 5 star rates, but offers the "resort" experience.

We stayed in a ground lagoon view room which was a good size for our family of four. Yes I agree some parts are dated but the room is still in great shape and extremely spotless.

The lagoon swimming pools are fantastic and the grounds lovely. I agree some maintenance is in order but I'm sure the new owners acknowledge this and a hotel of this size would no doubt be a huge cost to operate.

We enjoyed the food options which were to suit any guest..... From room service to the cheaper takeaway style food choices and pool bar serving snacks. The hotel offers a broad range of choices to suit all budgets so ignore any criticism on this. Yes buffet breakfast is on par with any other 5 star hotel but they do give a choice to be served toast and coffee only.

You will need a car to go into town or use the hotel shuttle as it is too far to walk. Private beach access to 4 mile beach provides a lovely walk and space for the kids too run.

Overall we enjoyed our 3 night stay, and the Sheraton was welcoming and a huge family friendly resort.

I'm sure this hotel was once a top place to stay in Port Douglas, but it is long overdue for a refurbishment. The corner room we had was a great size, but the furnishings and fittings are very dated. The pools are enormous, but once again need a lot of attention as do the gardens. On the weekend we stayed (to attend a wedding) I got the impression that there was not enough staff rostered, particularly around the grounds. There was rubbish in and around the bins near our room on the Saturday night and it was still there on Tuesday morning. Room service trays were left out overnight and not collected prompted. I am not sure if we would stay at this resort again, but it was okay and the room was clean.

Great service in particular Brian the porter and Danielle poolside drinks.Very eager to please.
Our 14yr old loved all the swimming pools. Reminded us of the 5star hotels in Bali.
Breakfast was the best food of the day which kept us going for most of the day.
Would definetly go back again. Thanku!!!
