“Great Location and Great Decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We stayed here the night before the eclipse so it was perfect to walk to the beach, 3 mins away. The room was lovely. We were at the very front and I was concerned it would be noisy through the night. Fortunately this was not the case and we slept very well. Air conditioner worked well but we turned it off at night. The Receptionist went into great detail to make sure we knew where everything was. She said she would be leaving after 5pm but was available via mobile if any problems. They provide an iPad though we found it easier using our own netbook.

Room Tip: Our room was overlooking Macrossan Street, the main street. We had a good view and a good night'...

This hotel was very disappointing where to begin the bed ran around the room all night. The airconditioner took over an hour to cool the room down. And the final straw was there was complimentary tea and coffe and cups however there was no kettle to make a cuppa in the morning. As there are no staff on sight until 9am it was extremely disappointing to not be able to have a morning cuppa.

The internet didnt work on the ipad. For a few dollars more you can stay somewhere much nicer with a pool. The room was miniscule, there wasnt even room to hang my dress up.

We needed a place to base ourselves for our last day of our holiday in Port Douglas as our flight home left Cairns just before midnight and we had to check out of our other motel at 10am. The Eclipse was perfect, being able to check in at 11am, spend time at the beach and have a shower afterwards. We had asked the day prior when we arranged the room if there were plates and cutlery in the room as we prefer to cook our own meals and were advised that there was not, but when we arrived the kitchen fairy had been and plates, cutlery and a microwave were there! This allowed us to enjoy our last dinner and wine on the deck watching the world go by on Macrossan Street. A perfect end to a perfect holiday.

Thankyou for such a great stay at your hotel. The service here is second to none, so helpful and very welcoming. We were able to check in early and were assisted with booking some excellent tours. Great room with a fantastic location. Gave us a hairdryer within minutes of us asking and were able to contact owner with any questions very easily. Little things go a long way. Highly recommended!

I could not find a working contact number for this hotel, which is rather unsettling considering I just spent $700 to secure a room and haven't received my "room access code" that I need to check in! How can I get it if you have no working phone number?! Disgusted!

Up stairs in main street next to Rattle & Hum Bar/Rerstaurant. New refurb/very clean. No reservation desk/internet booking only, ring at phone provided on arrival to access key via coded key box. Collection of bedsits with ensuite and large wall mounted TV. Bed/mattress was poor (wire edges grabbed under knees when sitting on edge was a clue). Clean and cheap, noise can be an issue, thin walls and the keypad sound of the ATM at front resonantes through the walls. Had only couple day stay and it was VERY central and on balance good value.

This is a very basic motel. The location is fabulous, right on the main street a couple minutes walk from prime shopping and groceries (Coles) and walking distance to the beach and flagged swimming area. The room itself is the most basic possible, though everything did work and was clean. When I mentioned a faulty kettle they replaced it immediately. My only complaint was hat the beds were very soft (worn) and not comfortable. Overall, it is a great location, good value, but reality is you can probably pay $10 more and step up to a substantially nicer room at another motel. There is no desk at the motel and nobody there, which is awkward. Also I found it noisy being on the main street, beside the pubs.
