“We never wanted to come home……”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2009

My 8 night stay in April at The Port Douglas Cottage was the culmination of many months and research and planning and playing off the idea of staying in a resort or having our own private place positioned closer to town, with our own pool away from noise and chaos that the school holidays brings to resort towns like Port Douglas.

We decided on The Cottage - and it was the perfect choice. It gave us the peace and laid back privacy we craved whilst being 20 metres from the main street so you could wander down and get an ice cream if you felt like it late at night. The Cottage is also a few blocks from beautiful Four Mile beach and just a short stroll to the Marina and as it is so central all the tours are happy to pick you right up from your door.

The deck has lovely view over PD and is surprisingly private and the pool, whilst small, is very deep and is perfect for cooling down at the end of a frantic day. The BBQ was great and one evening we cooked up some fresh seafood from the seafood markets nearby.

However, as you are so close to all the great restaurants it hardly seems worth cooking anything at all! Our favourites were Nautilus and The Living Room but Zinc, Zues and On the Inlet are great also. Not so stoked with Port favourite Salsa (sorry).

The mid week service was most appreciated (clean towels / linen / more toiletries etc.) and was more than we could have expected at a 5 start resort.

A couple of visits from the resident tree frog made our stay just perfect!

We never wanted to come home……

When we arrived at the cottage I was pleasently surprised to find a lovely 2 story little wododen house. The cottage has two floors - a living / kitchen area downstairs and a bedroom / bathroom upstairs.
Everything we needed had been provided for and it was bliss to have a washing machine after we had been travelling for a while. The location of the cottage is great - really central to Port Douglas. We even had our own swimming pool which was wonderful to slip into in the morning and the evening.
This was a wonderful place to relax and you can really feel at home here. I would recomend the cottage to anyone - however, if you have difficulties in walking The Cottage is on quite a steep hill - although not very far up it.

We stayed in Port Douglas cottage over the Christmas in 2007. It is fairly pricey and were just crossing our fingers it was everything it looked to be on the website.

It was... a beautiful little cottage, one room downstairs and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Perfect for a couple on a romantic holiday of a lifetime. The balcony upstairs was beautiful to sit and have breakfast overlooking the town and nearby rainforest. The decked area downstairs with swimming pool felt private and tropical. The pool was much bigger and deeper than I imagined and the little jacuzzi bit at the end was brilliant.

Location of this cottage cannot be faulted. Just off the main street and 1 min to the beach. Port is a beautiful town and we loved our Christmas here. We had a wonderful Christmas Day meal at Zinc and a great Boxing Day trip to the reef with Silversonic.

Don't worry about booking this place, you will be nothing but impressed.
