“Nice but not quite capturing the Port Douglas atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

This is a nice restaurant. It used to look onto the water next to the courthouse pub - it seems busier since the move to the Coconut Grove complex, but that location seems to lack the quirky, tropical, sightly bohemian and lay-back atmosphere of Port. If it mainly about the food experience you can't go wrong here. Great fish and seafood dishes as the name of the restaurant suggests. At my table the Emperor fish, Mussels and Barra were popular and was rated highly. I had the bugs and they were delicious. The atmosphere is trendy and you could be in downtown Sydney. I prefer some of the more tropical feel restaurants like Salsa, Bucci and Nautilus. The Tin Shed is great for the view and the value. 2 Fish is a good choice if you like the contemporary.

“Excellent food - Although”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

I found the food excellent although some issues I experienced could have made the experience all the better, the owner, Jeff must have the worries of the world on his shoulder's never smiles when I arrived I told him I had a booking for one, he said he would not have taken a booking for one, sorry Jeff I rang and booked with you, Jeff also runs around his restaurant at break neck speed which is copied by the other staff, this had an effect of me feeling like I should rush my meal, relaxed atmosphere it was not. I was seated near the open kitchen, the head chef spent the entire evening yelling instructions to the kitchen staff, and when I state yelling, yep I could hear every word.
Its a shame such good food was unable to be enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere.

“Excellent!”

We had the seafood platter for 2 and it was delicious! Great welcome upon arrival even though we didn't have a reservation. The waiters/waitresses were great. Would highly recommend.

“A disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

It looked good & had reasonable reviews but......
We didn't have a booking but was told no problems. Had a drink at the bar which was great, barman was entertaining. Finally got to our table where the waitress was informative. Ordered Oysters & Tempura Vegetables which were served quite quickly & were very good. We had ordered the Red Emperor at market price ($45 p/h), for our main. After over an hour wait & asking twice for our meal it arrived. It looked fabulous but the fish was rubbery & tough. The chief said that's how that fish is sometimes tough sometimes not. For the cost not good enough. Didn't bother with desert to disappointed.

“2 Fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

Five of us dined at 2 Fish on August 6 th and all enjoyed a superb meal. The entrees could not be faulted and the mains the same. The creme brûlée probably the best ever. Will go again. The staff were super efficient at all times.
