“A genuine piece of Greece in Tropical North Queensland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Yanni's enjoys a prime spot in the Cairns CBD. Even better it is centred around an atmospheric whitewashed courtyard so you have the choice of al fresco or air-conditioned dining from early brunch to late, plate-smashing dinner. As should be expected, the emphasis is on seafood dishes, but Moussaka, other pasta dishes, meat and chicken souvlakis and gyros also feature. Even pizza if that's what you fancy. The food and all the ingredients are fresh, the meals delicious, the tastes sensational and (best of all) it won't break your budget. We ate there at lunch and I have to say the service was outstanding: prompt, welcoming, professional. The beers and wines are a nice mixture of Australian and Greek and very reasonably priced. On Friday and Saturday nights there's some live entertainment (which is not our thing). But if you want to immerse yourself in Greek ambience without actually going to Greece, Yanni's is definitely for you!

“Take your appetite and zorba shoes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012 via mobile

We had a late night dinner party of 14 who arrived at about 9pm and the kitchen was more than happy to accommodate us where others didn't. The food was very good and plentiful - we had the set menu.

The owner kept us very entertained including having the majority of the restaurant up doing the zorba. Traditional Greek dance was followed by traditional breaking of plates - very entertaining!

Highly recommended for a group night out.

There is a better Greek place in town, but this place had terrible service and lame Greek dishes.
