i have been to and from cairns many times over the last 10 years and in that time have been onboard almost every boat in the marina for trips to the reef, paying everything from 80 bucks through to over 500. This is the only boat i am bothering to review simply because they do such an amazing job.
NO HIDDEN COSTS as there are for most others i.e. reef tax, transfers, breakfast, marine biologist, 1st scuba dive, equipment, glass bottom boat etc which in most cases ends up making your trip more expensive then you were hoping or expecting.
I have been on boats that stuff sooooo many people on that it is dangerous, on one of my trips out here with reef experience i got the last available spot on this boat and it was still a small amount compared to how many it could of carried, and i found the boat and equipment to be in great condition. no idea what the negative review was about, or how males and females sharing a bathroom is un-hygienic (i can only assume that you live alone)
As for reef locations, as a dive master i would like to think i have a good grasp on the idea after nearly 300 dives around the world. IT ALMOST ALWAYS depends on weather conditions. You could go to the best dive site in Papa New Guinea (some of the best diving in the world) and still have a terrible dive because of weather. On my trips we went out to (true) outer reef locations, whereas in my experience, many tell you that you are going to outer reef but as the boats are so slow you end up at a middle reef instead. we had swim through caves, fish, reef sharks, turtles, and some of the best viability on the entire reef (i have friends who went out on a different boat on the same day).
big stable catamaran which is great as i get very sea sick. to be honest, i have nothing i could possibly complain about except they were a little late pickin me up and found it to be great value for money when you consider all the things that are included which you don't find with other boats
on a side note, i have to say as someone who travels and uses trip advisor ALOT, the amount of times another company name was used in BOLD LETTERS while writing a somewhat negative review about this boat makes me wonder if it more about a sales pitch then an honest evaluation.
