“great local hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Great small hotel. Provided SMART CAR for a small fee on $45.00 for 24 hours. Rooms were
clean airy and attractive. Breakfast packages are available. Close to downtown, but far enough so no noise. Service was good. Luggage storage provided for late departures. WiFi very strong and reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for upper levels with private veranda

A hidden gem in the heart of Cairns. I am local and took 3 of my friends and their families to stay there and we all had a great time. We had family rooms which were lovely, clean and comfortable. The staff placed us all next door to each other and there was a large outdoor area just next door to our rooms where we could all meet for a drink and nibbles. We paid $145 for a family room which included a hot breakfast for up to 4 people. My friends who were all from out of town were impressed and everything was within walking distance. The shops, the movie theatre, the restaurants, the liquor shop (very important, ha ha). The staff were also lovely and 1 guy in particular liked to have a joke. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We took advantage of the "spend 100.00 on dinner and stay free" deal. Found the staff very helpful, and the rooms nicely done, although old and could have been cleaned better. The waitstaff at the restaurant were awesome, and it was lovely sitting out in the garden with twinkling lights in the trees. We didn't feel rushed at all, and the main came with soup (pumpkin)and dessert (trio of sorbet - awesome!). The house wine was very good, if a little pricey for a glass at 9.00. I had steak and prawns and my husband had the seafood mixture. He found it a little fiddly to cook, but I felt it was the best steak I had ever had in my life.

we got a great deal whereby if you spent $100 at the restaurant you got your room free! room was nice, clean, everything you need in center of town. the restaurant was nice, not much choice but good quality food, all hot rocks menu (they bring out the rock, you cook the food). nice wine list and helpful staff. reception staff were a bit patchy in terms of service, but for the most part ok. it seemed in both the restaurant and reception they were short staffed, but did their best. if you get a chance try an espresso martini from the bar...you will be bouncing off the walls!!! not a quiet hotel, so if you want a really good sleep go elsewhere!

I came for a business trip to Cairns and the accommodation was organized by the company, from their previous experience. The deal was amazing. Stayed there for 7 nights. The location is great, walking distance everywhere. Room was always clean daily. Pool facilities so nice. And the restaurant staff very friendly and quick service, especially Tao one of the staff member.Always smiley and his positive attitude made our days .and Even thought they were very busy dinner time the service was great. They just nicely asked us to sit at the bar and have a drink till our table was ready. Didn't take long at all and we had our dinner on the table. The best Margaritas I ever had. You must try their special '' steak on the hot 430 degrees rock''.

I will definitely come back:)

We stayed here for my birthday last night in a tower room using a heavily advertised locals special. Check in was fine and the room was quite nice and comfortable. The elevator is very slow but that didnt bother us .The room was quiet, the bed was comfy and it had a nice relaxing balcony. We booked a table in there restaurant for opening time 6pm so we could make a show at the civic centre across the road at 7-30pm.There was a few people seated and we waited until we were taken to our table and told someone would bring menus soon. 20 minutes later without anyone attending to us my partner decided to go and get a water jug from the bar as no one had bothered to ask us for a drink or bring a menu.15 minutes after that (35 mins wait now) later my partner finally waved down a staff member to request a menu. We were told they only had one menu and we had to share. First course was a watery pumpkin soup and by the time the main arrived on the hot rock and it was cooking it was nearly time to leave or miss part of the show. We had to leave part of our main and missed out on dessert so as to be on time .The service was terrible and when we spoke to the guy doing the bill he laughed it off which was pretty poor customer service. We wont be going back to this so called restaurant again. Then to top it off on check out they wanted to bill us more money even though everything was prepaid weeks ago on booking. The guy on reception did offer my partner a free breakfast for 2 to compensate but we declined as we didnt want to go through the same frustrations again. Theres a huge range of quality restaurants only a few hundred metres away on the esplanade so head there if you need to dine but if you just want a room the place is OK

Room Tip: Tower rooms have a nice balcony

I've just had a heavenly sleep in a very comfortable bed in a gracious room with plantation shutters. Had a Hot Rock steak which was excellent and, of course, cooked (by me) to perfection. Enjoyed a very good English breakfast and sampled all the Asian dishes as well. The hotel is in a central location and I most certainly will recommend it to my friends. Excellent value.

Room Tip: Love the tower room
