We stayed there for 6 nights back in July 2010 (sorry for delay in reviewing).

We really enjoyed our stay. We had 4 people originally booking 2 rooms, but they upgraded us to a 3 bedroom suite across the street. Amazing amount of space, nice kitchen, big living room, spacious bedrooms and baths. We didn't mind the walk to downtown Cairns, twice we walked there and back, once we walked down and decided to catch a cab back (after a very filling dinner). The hotel itself is in a nice tree-lined suburban neighborhood on the outskirts of town. It is a very safe area. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They helped us with booking a last minute Barrier Reef trip (our second) and with a Daintree/Cape Tribulation Tour. They also assisted us with our rental car for a day trip to Kuranda. On our second to last night we ate at the Bay Leaf and it was excellent, great food and service. On our last night they recommended a great Italian restaurant downtown. My only complaint would be that the pool was too cold to use.

Pros:

1. Spacious suite/rooms.
2. Fantastic restaurant
3. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff

Cons:

1. Little far from downtown (15 min. walk) if you don't mind walking this isn't really a Con.
2. Pool was too cold to use

Not so much disappointed by the hotel, but by the hyperbolic reviews. It's a reasonable place, and good value, but I didn't see any extraordinary facility or service. It's a glorified motel, with some plants and a "dip-pool" in the middle of it. The decor is outdated, and Internet use inconvenient and expensive. Didn't like the 20-minute walk from downtown Cairns in dark suburban streets.

The restaurant downstairs is indeed quite nice, but that's the only choice unless you want to take a hike.

Given the low rate, I was content. But will try somewhere else next time.

What a fantastic place. We booked a 2 bed apartment and it was like being in a 5* hotel room.....it was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. The apartment was cleaned every 3 days and there was also complimenatary tea, coffee and milk which you would normally get in a hotel room. The aprtment also had a washer and a drier which was a godsend. The complex was clean and the pool crystal clear....beach towels were supplied at $1 each...we also got complimentary continental breakfast for the four of us for every day we were there. The staff were helpful and friendly and were a great help when we wanted to book trips....the place also had a complimentary airport shuttle service. I would recommend this place to any traveller thinking of going to Cairns.

What can I say, from the moment we arrived, meeting the very friendly staff to the 2 bedded apartment that wanted for nothing. 1st class and wished we had been able to stay longer. It was not what we had expected, it far exceeded our expectations. I can’t compare it with other hotels in Cairns, but would not even look if and when we go back, we will without hesitation book in here again

We stayed at the Bay Village in December and thought it a good apartment. The centre of Cairns is not to far away and the staff were helpful and friendly.

We stayed here for a few nights at the start of our honeymoon, mainly to get over our jet lag but also as a base for a couple of day trips. This hotel is fine and of a good standard however I think our expectations were too high after reading all the glowing reviews. The apartment was spacious and clean and the balinese restaurant was excellent. I think we were unlucky that the same person was on reception throughout our stay and there was some confusion with our booking. Firstly one of our flights was cancelled which led to confusion with both our airport pick up and check-in (despite phoning ahead to inform them). Secondly the receptionist didn't give us our breakfast vouchers so there was confusion in the restaurant. Thirdly the receptionist was confused about how many nights we were staying and kept saying that there was no booking for a third night, despite us having paid and having all the relevant paperwork (after double checking the system he admitted our booking was in order).

I would have no problem staying here again as it is the type of hotel we usually stay in when travelling, but be aware that some of the previous reviews have over-hyped this hotel.
