“Ibis cabins”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

The room was quite large but very spartan. There was noise from outside during the night and very early morning. This motel has hundreds of units and I got lost looking for mine a few times. I couldn't park close because of the size of the property so had quite a way to carry my luggage. It boasted that it was Central City Cairns and it certainly was not that unless you call 4.5kms out of town central.

Room Tip: I wouldn'y bother unless you are on a strict budget or have a family as the pool looked quite go...

The Colonial Club was lovely, My daughter got married in the gazebo in a beautiful tropical setting which was followed by her reception. The staff at the reception were all very helpful and we had no problems with anything. The food was simply amazing.
The accommodation, although basic was very clean and well priced, and we had a most enjoyable stay. The buffet breakfast that was very enjoyable was included in our room package.
I would recommend the Colonial Club in Cairns to anyone looking for somewhere to stay while in Cairns.

Room Tip: Get a room on the ground floor

Problems from the start! On-line booking very misleading regarding breakfast which was only continental. When queried this at reception attendant's attitude somewhat rude. Paid for upgraded room, would have hate to have seen state of standard room - tired, shabby and could have been cleaner. Very noisy timber sections in verandas when other guests leaving early in morning which disturbs sleep. Then to top off a poor experience our car which was parked in the car park just in front of reception got covered in flying fox droppings which have left permanent staining on the roof of our car. Other guests BEWARE if travelling by car!!!

A very basic place. It needs a big overhaul to get it up to a reasonable standard.
The pool looks great, but the boards surrounding it are very uneven, split, and need replacing or repairing. The outdoor chairs are split and uncomfortable, and the casual dining area around the pool needed a big clean up. The floor was dirty grubby (food, leaves and dirt) and needed cleaning up.
The rooms are small but clean.
Bathrooms are tiny and in need of repair/updating.
The highlight is the restaurant. It overlooks the pool. Staff are well trained and helpful. Food is fresh and well presented. Even so, I wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer to the pool have high volumes of traffic going past the rooms very noisily - at all hou...

A little disappointed that we weren't told that the daily complimentary breakfast was for only cold foods. You had to pay extra per head if you wanted hot foods for breakfast.

Food at restaurant ok, but customer service is excellent and rooms were well kept every day that we were there.

We found the3 Colonial Club to be very well priced and offer great rooms, The heritage restaurant with its views over the pool offered a relaxing location to enjoy our breakfast, Will definitely be staying again
