We arrived on Saturday late afternoon (9 Oct) and left on Tuesday 12. We pre-booked a package with Qantas (City view with breakfast for two - with late check out)
Check in was quick and we were given room 204. The room was overlooking the Sebel Hotel (no much of city view) and not privacy from the balcony at all. As I was celebrating my birthday on the Sunday 10 October and we were staying for two more nights; we requested to change our room to a suite with water view (Room 516 - extra charge $30 worth every cent). We stayed at this hotel a few years back, when it was called the “Sofitel” and remembered really well this suite.
The suite room is fantastic, good size room; quiet and lot of privacy (have posted some photos which speak by themselves). The best thing of this room is the bed and the bath. We had one of the best sleeps ever on that king size bed. Fantastic!
We ordered twice room service and food/beverages were delivered promptly. As our hotel package included breakfast, we had continental and cooked breakfast at the restaurant over the three days stay. The staff at the restaurant was really nice and helpful as well as the hotel staff
If you are planning a day on the Reef, the Marina wharf is only 5’ walk from the hotel.
We were lucky to use the new cushions in the pool on the date we left. We had the pool only for us (photos posted)
There is an automatic coffee machine in the lobby where you can grab a free coffee as you go
We found the internet access from the room a bit expensive (around $20 for two hours) in comparison to other hotels. I travel with my laptop all the time for work and it was cheaper using my own internet card rather than paying the room internet charge. However, there are three Apples computers and a printer in the lobby which are free of charge for the guest.
We certainly know where we are going to stay in our next visit in Cairns!
