I was extremely ennoyed to discover when we got home that the staff of tthe Hilton had taken $200 out of our creditcard on the day of arrival and credited it back the day after we left. We lost money in the transaction,as well as in the currency difference.
The fresh fruit at the breakfast was tasteless, not ripe.

Dear Customer,

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review. Your comments and feedback are of great value to us as we are always striving to improve future customer service.

It is a policy of Hilton to take a pre-authorisation on check in of a guest’s credit card to cover incidentals. If this amount is not redeemed during their stay a refund is deposited electronically – this can take up to 5 working days. It is the responsibility of our front desk team to communicate this to all guests and after receiving your feedback we have made all possible operational and communication amendments to our current system to ensure guests are aware of our pre-authorisation requirements.

Kind regards,
David Kelly

We stayed for 3 nights at the Cairns Hilton, beginning on July 9. The hotel is located on the wharf, a short walk to the docks for boating trips, and walking distance to the shops in town. The staff was exemplary, especially Marlon and Michael, who were very attentive and efficient despite the many customers making all sorts of demands. When my daughter was injured on the Great Barrier Reef, Marlon immediately provided her with a wheelchair. We didn't even ask for one - but we were really grateful for it. All our other requests were immediately attended to, and the items we wanted were rapidly delivered. I never had such good service before.

We were given a room with a beautiful view of the Trinity Inlet, even though we were not expected that early. The only negatives we can share is that the room was very old, the bathtub had rust in it and the fitness room was very small and only had 3 machines. However, the wonderful staff and the stunning view more than made up for these minor inconveniences. We still loved this place in spite of these.

Florence at the travel desk was also very helpful, recommending barrier reef tours that could accommodate snorkeling beginners, and also giving tips on what to do when river-rafting. She was wonderful to listen to.

Additionally, this hotel had an excellent breakfast buffet, which was included in the price of our room. We had a wide variety of choices. The night time dinner menu was also excellent, and had a combination of Thai, Indian and Malaysian dishes that were to die for! Kudos to the chef(s)! The waiters were great too, suggesting dishes that delighted us.

Finally, the business center provided free internet access, which was very convenient.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. We booked the rooms on a 2-for-1 special, and it was the best value on our 17-day vacation. We plan to return in the future.

Loved it! OK, so the Hilton is a big chain, but they get customer service right! Greeted with a friendly smile, service is there when you need it but not overboard.
This coupled with well appointed rooms and great views in a top location make for a great stay.

We loved Cairns - the food was better, more varied, better price and service than Palm Cobve.

We also loved our few day star at the Hilton - modern newly remodelled and water view.

Only bad part of this trip was Qantas - impossible to get seat assignments for flights to and from the States. Despite all the protests from the airlines that you can get them - in advance, online at check in etc.

It turns out that seats are assigned in preferential order of cost of ticket - most expensive get preference - although they will not admit it. So it actually hurts you to book 9 months early and get the best rates possible with an early fully paid commitment.

We will never fly Qantas again while they are being run like a budget airline. Not knowing whether you can sit together on a $2000 14 hour flight until you get on the plane is unacceptable. What makes it worse is that Qantas will not admit the truth.

My sister and I spent three weeks in Australia. Our stay at the Hilton Cairns was for 7 nights. It was worth every penny. From our room on the seventh floor we had a beautiful view of the lagoon. The serenity beds were extremely comforatable. In addition, the hotel is located by the boardwalk which has many restaurants to choose from. We also chose to include breakfast in our stay. The food was great and offered a wide variety; eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit, myso soup, chocolate croissants and lots more.

Pool was very nice. There is actually a phone by the pool where you can order food which is then delivered to you by the pool. Nice workout area as well as a sauna and hot tub.

After roughing it a bit in the Outback, the Hilton felt like coming home. Would highly recommend this hotel!!

We stayed in this hotel at the beginning of a trip to Cape York and then again at the end of the trip. In the beginning we stayed in a standard king with an ocean view. The room looked like it should have been in a motor inn, not in a Hilton property in a resort city like Cairns. The ocean view (as it was presented to us) did not view the ocean at all, but looked out over Trinity Inlet. It was still a beautiful view, but they should present it for what it is.

At the end of the trip we stayed on the executive floor in a remodeled room that was much more of the Hilton standard we are used to experiencing. The executive lounge provided excellent breakfast and a reasonable selection of nibbles and drinks in the afternoon.

Outside of the room, the location is excellent and the staff helpful. Another thing to keep in mind is that some sort of construction is going on next door. It can be a bit loud if you are on that side of the property.
