“My Cairns Hilton experience”

Loved the Hilton had a great view from my room of the boats coming and going from the reef. We enjoyed the pool and some cool corona's went down very well while relaxing on the deck chair's. The Mondo Restaurant is a great place for dinner and the vibe is great and staff very friendly.

I took my wife to Cairns for a long weekend for her birthday. I had stayed at the Hilton 15 years ago (pre-wife) and liked it then. From the previous visit I chose the Hilton this time based on location, pool and 5 star service. I was a little nervous after reading the Tripadvisor reviews of the relatively small numbers of dissatisfied people. Sensibly, I did not mention any apprehension to my wife. And..... SHE LOVED IT ALL!!! When booking I had mentioned, in passing, that we were coming for my wife's birthday. On check-in both Front Counter staff cheerfully wished my wife a happy birthday & there was a greeting in the room from the General Manager. Also on booking, I requested a couple of extra "on availability" options and both were granted on check-in. The room was clean, well furnished, nice balcony, great views. Housekeeping got everything right (you know in some hotels they forget to replace towels, soap, hand towels etc). Everything done well here. Being in Cairns, there were so many dining options, we didn't get a chance to try the hotel restaurants other than breakfast. The first morning we worked out you needed to understand the local processes for breakfast (ordering the "good coffee", ordering eggs your way). Overall breakfast was a really enjoyable start to each day. Pool was superb. Staff were exceptional. One who really stood out was Netis in the Executive lounge. On a busy evening, she worked like 3 people, always doing at least 2 things at any time, always smiling, always having everything under control, always making sure the guests were looked after. But... we could choose many staff members to praise, especially Front Desk and Concierge. When we arrived they were down to the taxi straight away to collect our bags. We noticed, any time we were in the front lobby, that the guys were right on collecting bags of newly arriving guests. Overall- the Cairns Hilton exceed our expectations as it met the very best we had hoped for.

This hotel was in desperate need of updating although the blub said it had been recently renovated. Our room smelt very damp and musty. The air conditioning unit dripped water constantly and the carpets were worn and tired. The entrance to the rooms looked very drab and in need of work. Certainly not what you would expect for a 4* .......

Staying on the 9th (top) floor, the view from the room is nice. Room is nice and bed comfy. The executive lounge is cosy, but not overly busy.
Staff are friendly. Only complaint was choice of food, as the Indian restaurant had closed.

Extremely supportive and made sure your needs were met effectively. The entry to the hotel was well laid out, parking was also easy to access to and from the hotel. all staff were responsive to our needs. A great place to stay.

Fantastic position close to Marina, restaurants, bars, city and casino. The staff were extremely helpful at all times. Room was very clean and facilities were terrific. enjoyed the experience entirely.

We had $500 credit from our tour package for dinning/drinking inside the hotel. Believe or not there is only one cafe you can spend your credit with. The cafe seats are open to air so you get tropical temperature in your lunch and feed yourself to mosquitos during dinners.
10/1/14 night at 9:00pm, we asked the counter if they still take orders (they close at 9:30) and the answer is yes, so our family moved the chairs to have a seat with an empty table. At this moment a guy in light blue business shirt (not likely a temporary employee) rushed forward and put a reserved sign right in front of us. We tried another table, he did the same again and repeatedly said "reserved, you can not sit.". My daughter at 14 study in one Sydney high school later told me that this guy used a very bad manner and way of conversation to show his disgusting of nationality and poor English. So sad to get this kind treatment in front of my family.
How could you spend all your credit in one cafe without air con., with poor services and not tasty food?

Besides they have no free wi-fi in room, you can go to lobby for free one but limited one hour per day. Or you pay them $15/day for wi-fi. You don't see this often these days in Australia.

Their breakfast each day is okay but watch out, the fruit sometime is not fresh. They seem like soak in the bowl for more than one day.

Besides the location this hotel can not call it a 5 stars hotel in my view
