4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

We stayed in an executive room, which was spacious and had a nice view. The location of the hotel is great. A short walk could reach Casino, ferry terminal, and major shops and restaurants.

The mainentrance and lobby were undergoing renovations during our stay, which should be informed during our booking. No free wifi and internet connection.

Once again we had the need to stay the night in Cairns. As we have many times before we turned to the Pacific International Hotel, as we have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and great service. On our arrival I was blown away with how the foyer and porte cochere have been renovated. Those renovations have also extended to the pool area and the function rooms on the mezzanine floor.

This hotel is something of a Cairns icon and changes to such a well known lady would need to be careful and considerate. This has been very well achieved and The Princess looks all the better for the attention.

One thing that has not changed is the sumptuous breakfast and very friendly staff.

Well done!

I was lucky enough to stay at this property in April. Loved the location directly in the The Esplanade, offering easy access to restaurants and shopping facilities.
I stayed in an Executive Room, located on the corner of the building overlooking the water/mud-flats. The sunrise was amazing as I sat on the small patio, listening the the birds in the trees and watching the city wake up.
Room was extremely comfortable and large. Although some of the furniture was a little dated, the hotel was undergoing a refurbishment - as they modernize and make the property more eco-friendly. Bed comfy, great water pressure in the shower over bath.
The hotel offers a buffet breakfast - good quality food and a nice selection of east and west cuisine. Be sure to have dinner in-house one night at the restaurant. Excellent food and good value for money.
Should I ever return to Cairns, this hotel will be top of my list to stay in again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the executive rooms - the extra space and views are well worth the extra money.

We booked the Pacific via Expedia on a promotion for 5 nights in April at the beginning of our trip to Australia and New Zealand. We were allocated a premier room on the 11th floor which had the most fantastic views over Cairns, its beach and waterfront, and the ocean beyond. It was a very good start. This hotel is just back from the waterfront, and afforded us a short walk to most of the bars and restaurants in the area , mostly good with one or two very disappointing exceptions, Hogs' Breath and Little China. The hotel staff were very helpful and pointed us in the right direction when we needed, the rooms were spacious and well appointed, and the free Wi-Fi was a real bonus to help plan the rest of our trip, including the Korunda Express, the Great Barrier reef and Cape Tribulation and the eastern seaboard down to Ballina. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: A premier room on the top floor was our choice, and a very good one it was.

We stayed in the executive room which was huge and had the best views of the hotel. The room and bathroom were very clean and the staff were helpful and very accommodating. Great location as everything was just a short walk.

Our stay was great! Rooms are large, clean and well serviced. Continental breakfast had a great choice of quality foods. Hotel is well situated with shops and restaurants near by as well as a very short walk to the piers. Highly recommended.

We were in Cairns for a conference and staying at the Pacific International. We had breakfast included in the price. We went down for breakfast and had the most wonderful young lady assist us. Her name, RENAE, the hotel should be proud.
we asked her a question (related to the evening bbq meal) which she did not know the answer to, she went out of her way, sourced the answer and came back to tell us. So often we find that if an employee does not know the answer they will say they don't know and walk away, Renae did not do this. She also gave us more information that we asked. Her demeanour was outstanding and we felt like the only customers in the room. WELL DONE RENAE!! I hope that your management acknowledges this and passes on congratulations to you. :)
