Owner description: Muddy's playground is open every day of the year between 9am and 7pm (including public holidays and weekends). Sections of Muddy's are closed for maintenance on Tuesday and Thursday mornings until noon. Even when maintenance works are being carried out, Council aims to have at least half the playground available for use. Muddy's is a modern, fun, safe, splash playground and parkland. It incorporates active, passive, interactive and educational facilities with a combination of play equipment. Muddy's playground is themed "Life in Trinity Bay" and the playground includes water play areas plus a flying fox, sound chimes, track ride, rope bridge, slides, play houses, story telling areas, see-saw, trick track and puzzle games. Please note that the disabled-use Liberty Swing uses the MLAK national keying system. For access please ask at Muddy's cafe. Muddy's has two toilet facilities one at the north end of Muddy's near the cafe and one at the southern end of Muddy's. Muddy's has barbecues, picnic tables and an on-site cafe.

“Best family playground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

An amazing playground - maybe, best suited to youger children, but there are plenty of attractions nearby for older children (bouldering/rockclimbing, skate park, lagoon..).

“fun place for a free outing with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

I live in Cairns so we go here on a regular basis. There is lots of smaller playgrounds around the water features which are suitable for ages 1-12yrs. The great thing about this is that you can keep a closer eye on your children, when we were in Townsville recently my daughter got knocked over 4 times by kids at the strand water park and the lifeguard just sat and watched the unruly behaviour, my 12 yr old also got pushed off the water cannon at the strand and was sworn at by a teenager, we left and went back to our hotel for a swim instead.
Thankfully Muddy's is much more relaxed and better set out to suit all ages. The view of the esplanade is gorgeous and there is cafe there as well as Bar B Qs close by. The cafe is quite good for a snack and has food like fish and chips, bacon and egg rolls and lots of cold drinks and ice-creams. There is a little tiled stream for the kids to walk through and water jets coming out of the ground in the water area, best to bring bathers and towels.
There is a giant fish for climbing on and it is very well lit at night time. I have been here for a walk with the family around 9pm and always felt safe as lots of tourists around but as with any city care should be taken. The playground is free, clean and fun.
