“One of the highlights of our trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

As a family of 4 with two young kids this was truly a highlight of our three week trip to Australia. We started at the Caravonica terminal and headed up into the rainforest on the Skyrail - there was a delay getting onboard due to some maintenance but this was the only negative of our day. We really enjoyed the journey above the rainforest canopy and into the clouds. We got off at the two stops on the way to Kuranda and took some great photos along the way. When we got to Kuranda we headed to the Koala Sanctuary, with the hidden bonus of being able to not only hold a Koala but also feed Wallabies and Roos, something which the kids adored. Bird World and the Butterfly Gardens were interesting for a quick look around but don't expect them to fill more than 45 minutes each. We all had a great day out and would recommend this to anyone who is visiting the tropical north of Queensland for the first time

“Boring. Cruise Ship Centeral”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

This is a real nothing and not worth your time. Yes, the skyrail equipment is nice. But to see what? The canopy of the rain forest is like looking at a bunch of tree tops. As for Kuranda, they might as well just back the cruise ship right up to the entrance. Tons of shoppers looking at not so interesting trinkets. The train ride is, well, a train ride. Not much to see. No cool factor. The whole thing was definitely a disappointment and a mistake.

“Kuranda SKYRAIL TOUR”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Descending from Kuranda in the Rain Forest to the base north of Cairns is a fantastic ride and view in over 7 miles of gondola riding high above the tree tops in the mountains, over streams, rivers, gorges, waterfalls, etc. The gondola cars are very stable, well ventilated, comfortable, and allow for great picture taking along the way. There are TWO possible stops along the way to get out and view more scenic settings. One stop is required as you need to change cars to continue to the bottom. Not being a real 'gondola' person, I had NO FEAR and felt very comfortable with the ride. I would definitely do it again, and would not want to miss the views and great pictures afforded by riding this SKY RAIL. GO FOR IT !!! you won't regret it.

“Fantastic Day From Start To Finish!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

The day truly was fantastic from start to finish and this really is a tour that would suit everybody!

We were picked up on time by our bus driver 'Kevin', who was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Kevin took great care of us the whole day and kept us well informed of where we needed to be and when.

He drove us north to a train station, where we boarded the 'Kuranda Scenic Railway'. The train journey was very scenic, as it wound it's way up to Kuranda Village. And included a stop at an amazing lookout.

Once at Kuranda Village, we had some free time to explore and do some of the activities there. We went to the Reptile House, which at first seemed tiny and a rip off to be honest, but once we came back up to the front desk, this really nice guy gave us a tour of some amazing creatures, some of which I was able to hold. The fact we then got to have photos taken while holding a snake, suddenly made the Reptile House worth every cent!

The buffet lunch was absolutely delicious, and the staff looking after the restaurant were very friendly also.

The army duck rainforest tour was neat, especially as the army ducks are proper World War 2 vehicles. Our army duck driver was this lovely woman who really enjoys her job and gave us a great unique experience.

The wildlife park was great. The Aboriginal dance show was funny, as one of the guys started talking us and forgot to use 'english', which made the other dancers laugh at him. The dances they did seemed to have been made up on the spot.
But the same guys were amazing at giving us a boomerang lesson and showing us different ways to play the didgeridoo. They also gave a great demonstration of how to throw the aboriginal spear over 100 meters.

The Sky Rail ride back to Cairns was breathtaking!

The Sky Rail seemed to go on forever, as we floated along, above a real living breathing rain forest. For a long time, all you could see in front and behind, was miles and miles of nothing but the Sky Rail and forest. It was like being on a planet of trees.
The Sky Rail is so long that it has 2 stops along the way, though only 1 is mandatory, as you have to change gondola. Also along the way, is a beautiful forest boardwalk that leads to a lookout on the opposite side to where the train stops.

Once back in Cairns, Kevin dropped us off back at our Hotel.

A truly wonderful day :)

“Enjoyed the Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We took the Skyrail cable car to Kuranda and returned by the Kuranda Scenic Railway. The views were spectacular. We arrived at Kuranda at midday and were scheduled to return on the train at 2pm. The day was very enjoyable and allowed us to see the rain forest and surrounding area from close proximity. The only negative comment I would make is that we could have done with more time in Kuranda to explore the town. However, this is a minor criticism as we enjoyed the day and found it be be good value for money.
