Owner description: Alongside Cairns is a magnificent tidal estuary that is rarely seen, except by fishermen. Only accessible by boat, M.V. Crocodile Explorer is a comfortable, air-conditioned vessel taking small numbers of visitors along Trinity Inlet on this scenic nature cruise. With waterways winding through a 300 square kilometre maze of mangroves, expect rich diverse wildlife, stunning scenery and a relaxing cruise with informative commentary from our crew. This is the saltwater crocodile’s natural habitat – with a chance to spot them basking on the muddy banks particularly in the cooler months. Cairns Harbour Cruises depart daily at 11.00am and 1.30pm for a 2 hour cruise. We also offer an evening cruise departing at 5.30pm daily.Picture yourself drinking sparkling wine while watching the tropical sunset from Trinity Inlet. A sunset cruise aboard the MV Crocodile Explorer sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. As our friendly crew greet you on board you will be offered a welcome drink to enjoy on deck prior to departure. The Sunset Cruise allows passengers to soak in beautiful views of the waterways, mangroves and mountains in the magical early evening sun. The 90 minute cruise includes a sparkling wine, standard beer, wine or soft drink and savoury nibbles on arrival.

“Nice night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

This was a nice way to spend an evening. We did go in July when it gets dark at 6.00pm so we were in darkness for most of the trip.Probably a cruise at this time should leave at 4.00pm. The complimentary wines and beers on arrival were well above average and the boat and seats were comfortable. The commentary, while knowledgeable could have been less about the local hotels and more about the flora and fauna. Private chats with the skipper were far more informative and interesting.

“A pleasant relaxing cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

We had a very relaxing trip on the 11.00 am start up the estuary on this cruise. The staff on board were friendly and the commentary informative. You get to see a part of Cairns that is not visible from the road. We didn't see any crocs or snakes, but did see plenty of birds. I certainly don't hold it against the tour operators that the wildlife didn't cooperate! It's not action-packed, but we didn't expect it to be. Worth the modest cost.

“Informative waterfront tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

There are three options: Morning, afternoon or sunset tours. At a previous visit we did the sunset tour, so this time we took the afternoon trip which was preceded my lunch at DunDee,s restaurant.
Both the lunch and boat trip was most enjoyable, with a very informative cometary along the way.
