“Memorable day trip to Cooktown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

My 16 year old daughter and I did the Cooktown 1 day 4WD tour on 5th July 2012.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, although it was a very long 14 hour day. Our guide Cathy was exceptional. Her knowledge of the local area was phenomenal. Her driving skills were first rate. And her enthusiasm that she has for her job is inspirational (I wish that I had that much enthusiasm for my job!). She is a credit to the company.
Plenty to see along the way, lots of toilet/food stops. Well worth the trip. I must also thank "The Merry Widows" for the entertaining singalong on the way home!

“Cooktown 1 day 4WD Tour - Adventure North”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

We wanted to experience the bloomfield track but don't have a 4WD so did the tour 18 June 2012 - Excellent, thoroughly recommend. Cathy our driver/guide was fantastic, very friendly, knowledgeable and informative (particularly about the coffee in cooktown!). Really enjoyed the day.

“Wow Wow Wow, A must do tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

One of the best tours I have every done, from the moment Matt picked us up I was excited to experience real aboriginal australian culture. The group was small, about 8 of us and Matt our guide was excellent.

Met Brandon and Lindon, Kubirri Warra brothers from the Kuku Yalanji language area. Practiced spear throwing aiming at half coconuts on the beach, moved into shallow water on the beach hunting for mud crabs. Then went into muddy mangrove swamp collecting periwinkles and mussels. Came back to camp and cooked our catch on open fire, Brandon & Lindon also brought out lots of other treats for us to try.

Brandon showed us many things they have in the area, turtle shell, stingray barb, mother of pearl shell, hook boomerang, returning boomerang, digery doo to mention a few. But the one I liked best was the burny bean.

Then went to a local aboriginal-owned art gallery in Mossman for a painting lesson and plenty of time to create a paint our own burny bean (using the aboriginal painting method of dot painting) for us to take home.

Had lunch at a lovely 5 star hotel in the middle of the rain forest.

Finally went swimming in cold waters of Mossman Gorge.

An amazing experience I will never forget. A big thank you to Matt our guide & all the people we met along the way. If we ever return we hope to do the tour to Cooktown.

Thank you guys for making our holiday so special.

You have really captured our experience on the Daintree Dreaming Day Tour.
Brandon, Linc are amazing people and what can one say about your guide Matty, other than he loves his job.

“They try hard!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Did this 0ne Day tour in early June and it's certainly one I won't forget. First up, there was a visit to an Aboriginal Art Gallery and the opportunity to participate in 'dot painiing'. Leading the experience was an artist himself (completely deaf but that didn't hold him back). That part of the day has to be rated 10 out of ten.

Next up was a visit to a rain forrest and a waterfall. Time to have a swim if you want, take photos and the like. For me this was not a new experience but for most on this tour it was very different. Lunch at Silky Oaks was just average.

Then it was off to Cooyar Beach. I managed to spear a crab and collect a few mussels which were then eaten for afternoon tea. But be warned, this tour involves ploughing through the mangrove mud, so stay away from white clothes and long pants. Shorts are the order of the day.

Tours like this ought to be couraged. They provide much needed employment for local Aborigines and also ensures that local aboriginal culture does not disappear completely. And I should congratulate the three Aborigines who made the day memorable. First, the guide. His enthusiasm knew no bounds. (But there are some factual errors in his presentations). Second there was the aboriginal artist who is impressive even if his command of the language leaves something to be desired. (Why do so many in the Australian tourist industry make so many grammatical errors). Finally, the guide Brandon who was only too willinly to share his knowledge.
