“A gentle way to get to know Australia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2009

We lgot into Brisbane after 9pm, our first trip to Australia. The lodge was about 25 mins from the airport and the owner met us downstairs. Friendly and unassuming, Noel and his wife made us feel very much at home. We got a large room downstairs with two double beds and the kitchen was lovely. Since we stayed 5 nights, I was able to use the washing machine in the laundry room and we got clean linen whenever we asked for it.
Noel was very helfpful with information about places to see and things to do.
Not far from the ferry or the bus, it is the perfect location for those who like a bit of quiet at night and the atmosphere is gentle and the owners are kind and helpful.
Glad we began our trip there and would stay there again if we ever got the opportunity to visit Australia.

We arrived at midnight, Noel was very kind to wake up and helping to set-up the rooms for us (5 person in a family room). The price is good, place is quiet, light breakfast is not bad, we had a home-feel.

The house design is oriental look, it will be very comfortabe when having BBQ at the back yard.

stayed during our first few days after arriving in australia. lovely homely atmosphere in a great location. the citycat is a 5-10 minute walk down the road and a really good way to get in to the city (it only takes about 15 mins and is cheap enough). the area itself its beautiful, theres a park just up the road which is good to walk around and a big gallery and resturant/bar called the powerhouse which is worth going to.

the owners made us feel so welcome, we had a really big room with double bed and single. the rooms arnt serviced as someone has already said, but that suited us fine since we were resting and getting rid of jetlag! they also gave us a cable so we could connect up to the internet which was handy.

would definetly recommend to stay here !

This place has been my favored Brisbane address for a few years. I do contract work in Brisbane for a few months a year. The new owners/managers have really smartened the place up with a new community kitchen, revamped gardens, installed a BBQ and the rooms are much much better with a fresh new look. Nothing beets the location, so close to the ferry, cafe's and supermarket.
The new owners and managers are far more friendly and they remember my favorite room.
I would describe Edward Lodge as boutique style accommodation of very good standard, I love arriving and walking through the front gates into the Tai gardens.
Seriously great place! (I'm a genuine customer)

Stayed at edwardlodge brisbane 19th-23rd december 07.
This property is not listed as a no service motel on web, after 3 days of room not being serviced, linens, towels not changed, complained to management who said they only service rooms once a week, or when new guests check in. Rooms are adequate, bathrooms shower only tiny ,good location with ferry commuter at end of sydney street,New Farm, but only if you want a motel. better accom available with in house service. Would not recommend to other travellers unless very budget conscious.
