“Fantastic Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

We had dinner at Moda tonight, just walked in and told chef owner Javier to make up a 3 course dinner.
Started with a fantastic cheese souffle followed by a selection of 5 tapas. Main course comprised of 3 dishes, Swordfish coked in the oven, black pudding with parsnip puree and pasta pockets with creamy pear and walnut. Dessert again a selection of 4 dishes and all yummy !!
Every dish complemented each other and the meals where light and very tasty. Portion size just right.
Can only recommend this restaurant for everyone. Great food, wine, service and ambiance. Well done to the team at Moda Restaurant, we will be back !!
Also value for money and the first great restaurant I have dined in for years.

“Fancy but overall what an experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Dined on a living social voucher yesterday and there was nothing to fault. Beautiful presentation for the entree (chicken croquette, prawns and grilled octopus with mango). The beef for the main course was cooked perfectly (and I am not a big meat eater!). What we loved was the attention to detail. You could see the chefs in the kitchen spending the time to get the courses looking/tasting beautiful. The dessert we had was divine. We thought we couldn't eat because it was very filling from entree to main but the dessert was irresistible it was yum. The place was open as we were in the best spot - it had a Spanish feel to it. For the price we paid, it was definitely worth it.

“Great experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

For a special night, we decided to try MODA, as we've heard a lot of good things about it. Once there, we were not disappointed at all! The food was delicious, the atmosphere delightful and the service amazing. My little "peché mignon" remains the cauliflower panna cotta. The Duck liver parfait was my husband's favorite!
We definitely want to go back to try Javier's table as the experience seems unique for the palate and divine for the taste buds.
Also the paella sounds interesting.
So we'll see you soon Moda's team!
Thank you for the impeccable service!

“A real disappointment.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

The entree was lovely, but the servings were small for the price: we had the shared platter of 3 entrees and chose the chorizo, octopus and chicken croquettas. The chorizo was really lovely, with lots of sweet paprika and minimal fat, but the serving consisted of one tiny sausage, about the length of your second finger, cut in half. The croquettas were terrific - could not fault them at all; superb! The octopus was tasty, nothing special, just grilled but nice, but the serving was tiny. For mains, my husband had the guinea fowl pie (pithiviere) which he said was really just a nice pastry with a chicken filling - it was "nice" but nothing remarkable. I had the lamb. Unfortunately, the loin of lamb was no longer available and so the recommended alternative was the "milk fed" lamb, which didn't have much flavour and the portion of actual lamb meat was miniscule - I understand, as a vet, that really young lambs have smaller bodies, but tihs should mean that for what you are paying more pieces should be put on the plate. However, the big disappointment arrived with dessert: no Pedro JImenez - the chef had "used it all in his icecream"; a short trip to the nearest Dan Murphy's would have remedied that. My husband's creme caramel was wonderful in flavour, but again the portion size was borderline offensive. My creme catalana was an abomination. This should be a baked custard dessert, like a creme caramel, but without the caramel sauce. What was served was some sort of froth with a few pieces of honeycomb-type stuff and a few berries in the bottom. I have never been so utterly cheesed-off by a restaurant on so many levels. On the positive, our waiter was really lovely so we tipped him well and the maitre d apologised for the rubbish creme catalana. But given the prices, there are far better options in Brisbane and short of a major overhaul we won't be back.

“It was like being back in Barcelona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

The manolete chorizo and Spanish peppers was a highlight and reminded me so much of sitting in one of the lanes in Barcelona's inner city where the most magnificent food keeps appearing. The white anchovies were the best I have had in Australia so far. The mussels on a bed of noodles was a big hit among the large party group I was with, as was the swordfish.
The food and service was very impressive and the wine list is extensive. A special occasion and highly recommended.
