One of the few decent places open for Saturday lunch, Customs House did not disappoint. It was a rather warm day, so we elected to sit inside, but the view of the Story Bridge and the river from the outside dining area would be a big drawcard for a romantic night.
The highlight of course is the food. Amongst our party, we sample every dish on the rather limited Signature Lunch menu. What the menu lacks in variety, it makes up for in quality, so no complaints here. The a la carte menu is also available, if you don't fancy any of the set options.
Standout for me were the scallops, absolutely fresh, and very well (lightly!!) cooked, presented in a complex sauce with black beans and sweetcorn. Not a combination that springs naturally to mind, but it works beautifully.
Surprising combinations, perfectly cooked. My kind of place.
