“Lots of boats and things to see & do.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We spent the morning here with a bit of jet lag!
We found there was plenty to see and look and the staff were very helpful if you wanted to know anything.
There were different boats to go on and look at all had information about the different areas of the boat. There was also interactive things to do as well as you walked around.

“rude and unhelpful”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

turned up an hour before closing and were told that they were not letting people in. There was no polite discussion of 'the museum is closing in an hour, are you sure you want to go in?' or any such appropriate way of treating a customer. Nevermind, voted with our feet and went for a nice walk instead.

“Needs to be Organised Better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I am a crazy nautical fan of everything seaworthy. The museum is an easy walk across the pedestrian bridge from the Uni and they do have some good exhibits. The problem is you pay walk about wondering what each item is about then walk out. There should be some organisation about it like early pioneer days, wars and adventure stuff in that order and someone to take you around to explain the significance of everything. An opportunity lost a bit given some really cool stuff in there.

“Excellent museum of maritime history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

This was a gem of a museum, lots of stuff for kids (like turning the guns in the corvette), and interesting historical exhibits for adults. We spent 2-3 hours. The volunteer staff are very friendly and helpful; I am not sure how much these valuable artefacts are subsidised, but what ever it is, it should be more valued.

“all about boats”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Passed a very pleasant few hours at the museum but would have liked to go aboard the little tug boat moored there even if it didnt leave the dock.
