“Loved it!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2010

We arrived in Brisbane a little tired after a big drive with a small child. We were welcomed by the porter who promptly took our bags for us! Check-in was quick & easy. We waited a while for our bags to be brought up to our room, but decided it would be quicker to go down and get them ourselves.
The room was great! It was clean and had everything in it that you would need. The beds were comfy!
The location is brilliant. That was the selling point for us!
We only stayed for one night this time, but we will be back.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. Valet parking is $24 for each day, but this is easier than trying to find alternate parking. Street parking is metered. The staff are very nice. We had a basic room which was very nice but our bathroom was incredibly claustrophobic. I have stayed at many other Rydges properties and this had the smallest bathroom of all.
We also had to have our room cards re-done 3 times as they kept failing. The staff said this happens if you keep the card near your phone in your pocket/bag. I found this ridiculous as this has never happened at any other Rydges.
hotel is well located in Southbank.

Thanks for taking the time to review the hotel ‘kylie1927.’

I’m glad to hear you found our hospitable and that you enjoyed the hotel’s position here in the heart of South Bank. At times our room keys can become corrupted; being a reusable media the cards can be subject to losing the encoded locking sequence as programmed. I will follow this up with our supplier with regards to finding a suitable fix on this issue.

Thanks you again for taking the time to review Rydges South Bank Brisbane; we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future.

Kindest Regards,

Scott Levey – Front Office Manager

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rydges South Bank Brisbane. We had a deluxe twin room which was terrific value compared to other hotels elsewhere in Brisbane. The room looked out to the city, the river and the wheel of Brisbane and was very very quiet. Also the hotel is a non-smoking hotel; and although busy we didn't hear noise from other rooms. The rooms were modern, and very clean and neat and comfortable. The location on the South Bank is terrifc and nearby Stanley Street has hundreds of restaurants. Also lovely to walk along the river to the galleries and the city. Near the rivercats too.

Even though we only stayed here for 2 nights, we found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean and tidy, light and a reasonable size. We had a lovely view of the city which was only a ten minute walk over the bridge.

The staff at this hotel go out of their way to help you. I joined the Priority Guest Scheme and had some geat offers sent and the staff responded to my emails quickly and were very helpful. The Reception staff were always friendly even though they were very busy. The CBD bar had a wonderful chef and we were surprised by the great quality food as it is only a small cafe/bar. Room service was quick and yet again the staff always had a smile! It was a pleasure to stay there. The only negative is they do need to upgrade the bathrooms as they are a little run down. Great location, great staff.

Thank you for letting us know about the bathroom in your room, we’ll have our maintenance team attend to the area and ‘spruce’ it up accordingly.

I love this hotel and have stayed a half a dozen times - perhaps because it was boxing day the staff were a little jaded - but a few issues - one when we pulled up the lobby was empty - the 2 guys in concierge who normally help with the bags just stood and chatted while we unloaded are bags on to a trolley ourselves - with 2 young children a little help would have been aprreciated - we were early for check in - fair enough but in the past as a priority guest we have always been checked in early perhaps we have been lucky the last half a dozen times ! I was reminded by the lady at check in that 2pm was the check in but she offered to ring me when the room was ready - 3 hours later at 2pm she hadnt rung - what a suprise - they guy at check in said there was some problem and the room was still not cleaned but did upgrade me to the next level of room which was excellent - but again we were only the people in the lobby and only our bags were sat there !!- but why didnt they offer this initially - also I did book this under the Rydges priority scheme summer token sale programme - I wont be doing this again - I felt like I got second rate service and perhaps this was the reason - other than this an enjoyable stay - one mention though the cbd bar was closed over the xmas period - perhaps when booking this should be mentioned

Dear “pom04”

It was disappointing to read your review regarding your recent stay at Rydges South Bank.

The hotel prides itself on its welcome, great customer service and staff, therefore it was concerning that we failed on both concierge and front desk on this occasion. I have discussed this in depth with the Front Office Manager as this is not our normal standard of service.

I am also sorry that you did not feel recognised as a priority guest and would like to make amends on your next visit to Brisbane; therefore may I ask you to contact me direct at the hotel for your future accommodation requirements.

I do hope I have the opportunity to welcome you back to Rydges South Bank in the future.

Kind regards

No complaints about the hotel. We were very conveniently located next to a lot of sights in Brisbane and a few steps away from a cinema. The walk to the city CBD took us about 15 minutes.
