“Average Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2010

Stayed for one night, I won't say slept because the bed was too uncomfortable to sleep in! The room was of a good size, but very tired looking and worn. The food was very poor and just edible, I would eat elsewhere if possible. OK for an airport stop over, but not much else. A very average hotel.

I booked this accommodation for one night on line. It was close to Portside for our cruise and seemed OK from reviews. The room was clean and well appointed as was the modern bathroom. Dispite the room overlooking very busy Kingsford Smith Drive the double glazing sliding glass doors onto the balcony muffled the sound of traffic. There was however a little street light that the curtains were unable to stifle. Lifts operated from car park to rooms. We didn't try the restautant.
We called back a week later for a track suit top I inadvertantly left in the room. It was returned with courtesy.

The hotel is very close to the airport and we found it easily. The room was fine, nothing special but definitely nothing bad about it. You need to think of this as an airport hotel, it is not particularly luxurious, but is clean, spacious and meets the basic needs. The room had a well stocked tea/coffee making set. The reception was closed when we arrived, but the staff were outside chatting and they were really nice, got our key out of the night box, showed us up to our room etc. The restaurant wasn't open at weekends, but we walked down to the local restauarnts for breakfast, which were about 10 mins away.

very basic room but it did have small balcony looking onto the road
Hotel is close to the airport and seaport
negatives were that the air con didn't work and bed was old and lumpy
the Pool also has seen better days
would only consider for late night stop over
staff at reception were fast and efficient

I spent 2 nights at Quality Inn Airport Hertiage for business.

Good:
1) Room is clean
2) Near the airport
3) Warm welcome by reception when checking in
4) Breakfast room service was on time.

Bad:
1) Old 80s Queensland style room, small desk, small bathroom.
2) Uncomfortable bed, old heavy wool blanket (only one available in room, no spare)
3) Only air conditioning for cold air, heating didn't work (stayed during winter with cold nights).
4) On main road, noisy
5) Ate at the resturant for the first night, awful food, bad service. Only one waitress, hard to get her attention.
6) Internet is available, but you have to get it from reception, a bit of a hassle. And you had to decide how long you would need to 'order' the right package.

We found the room to be clean and modern, with a small fridge and room to move (sans sofa bed). Nicely decorated with a balcony which looked into the back of a neighbour's house.. The corridor is a bit narrow though which doesn't leave a lot of room to manevour big suitcases.

The desk staff were quite unfriendly and defensive when we reported a fault with our room (safety catch was missing a part) and queried the bill.

Some good restaurants 10 - 15 minutes walk down the road, although there is one at the hotel which looked quite empty most of the time.

  • Liked — Proximity to airport
  • Disliked — Unfriendly staff, distance from shops

I stayed at this hotel for one night as it was close to the airport and I had to drive to the Sunshine Coast and back for work the next day. It was perfectly situated for this.

The room was very clean and quite spacious and included a lounge which was nice. I was a bit worried that it would be noisy being on a main road, but the traffic noise wasn't too bad. The double windows helped.

I wandered down to the new Portside precinct for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised by this area. A couple of good restaurants to choose from and a cinema - all only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. It is nice to be able to stroll along the river's edge. Wish I owned a unit there!

Overall a very pleasant stay.
