“Ok hotel, HELL to try and find it though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights.
Finding this hotel was an absolute nightmare! We missed the turnoff for the bridge, then had to drive around negotiating city traffic and roadworks to try and get back to where we needed to be. Finally got to where we wanted, only to find every street was one way and going in the wrong direction. OMG! ABout 20 minutes of driving around we finally got to the hotel, lucky because i was ready to give up and go home. This may be a common occurance, as I was speaking to someone in the elevator and the first thing he said was "did u get lost finding this place?". Hell yes i did!!
The room was ok, it had a queen bed and a single bed, a flat screen tv and air conditioner. The bathroom was a bit cramped and one of the towels was filthy but the overall room cleanliness was good. We got a service as well, clean towels and the bed was made.
THe pool was nice, FREEZING cold but just what we needed to freshen up before our day.
This hotel is located about 5 minute walk to the main part of southbank, its right near the cultural centre bus station if u need to catch a bus anywhere, and about a 10 minute walk to the city.
Overall it was a good stay, staff were nice enough and the room had everything we needed.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your candid remarks.

Riverside Hotel is located on one of the main areas of Brisbane, having entrances on two different roads.

Please bear in mind that Brisbane is not the easiest city to drive, having several one way streets and not that many places to do a U turn.

As we understand the issues with traffic in this city and how some guests might have difficulty in finding us, we have driving directions and maps on our website from all directions possible, in order to assist our guests in finding Riverside Hotel. Should that not help, we are able to assist over the phone and provide driving directions until our guest reaches our doors.

Nevertheless, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you had to go through to find us, we honestly hope your stay made up for that time lost trying to find us.

We truthfully appreciate your comments on our staff, room amenities, location and service. Our Housekeeping team has been spoken to about the towel you have found in your bathroom, as this is not up to our standard.

Please understand that during winter, the pool will indeed be cold.

Thank you once again for your feedback, and please contact myself directly upon booking your next accommodation in Brisbane

With best regards,

we spent 2 nights at the riverside hotel which is just a 10 minute walk from most of the amenties the city and southbank has to offer.it was reasonably quiet even though there is a new hotel/motel being built at the back.
the staff were excellent we arrived early after catching the redeye from perth.
check in is 2pm but the girl on the desk rang us around 10am telling us the room was ready.
we stayed in a one bed appartment which had plenty of room the only downside was the water pressure in the shower it was pretty dismal.
the rooms where clean and beds comfortable.
i would stay again.

Room Tip: rear rooms are quieter

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your honest and positive feedback.

We are happy to inform that the construction of the apartment building next to us has now finished.

Please understand that, despite having a specific check-in time, our main job is to ensure you feel welcomed and are treated with the highest level of service we can offer, therefore, for your convenience, we are more than happy to offer our rooms before check-in time should they be ready.

Our Operations Manager has been made aware of the water pressure and will look at remediating the problem straight away.

We were glad to see that our location has been convenient to you, and that you have had a good night’s sleep in one of our comfortable beds.

Once again, on behalf of Riverside Hotel’s team, I thank you for your kind comments. We are looking forward to welcoming you back at Riverside Hotel.

Please do not hesitate to e-mail me directly when planning your next visit to Brisbane.

Our Australian adventure took us to Brisbane and we stayed at the riverside hotel for three nights. Fantastic location, only a 10-15 min walk to the wheel and the communal pool. 5 min walk to the brisbane museum. And about 20mins to the inner city. The rooms are clean and tidy, although not as modern as what chain hotels have, the amenities are suited to all needs. Plenty of towels and the linen was fresh and clean every day. The hotel is next to a main road but you cannot hear the traffic. We opted for the continental breakfast option and enough variety for our 3 night stay. There is a small pool at the hotel but the communal one in the park was more appealing. Would happily stay here again and have recommended to fellow travellers we have met on our Australian journey.

Room Tip: High floors you have a small balcony to stand out on.

My daughter and I have just returned from a three night stay at Riverside. We caught up with friends who parked close by for the day and enjoyed together nearby Museum, Art Galleries and South Bank parklands, markets and swim beach.Best of all the hotel was an easy walk to QPAC where we saw Annie Sat.evening. We felt safe walking back and forth and also walked to Queen St Mall to shop. Staff were friendly and more than helpful with ice on request and printed directions to find other locations around Brisbane. Dinner in Montague's was a treat and our room was cleaned daily and very comfortable. Luckily we were on the southern side away from William Jolly Bridge, which would have been noisy I imagine. Not much of a view but that didn't bother us. Secure parking was great and we really appreciated the extended use on Sun. after check out in order to make the most of our visit and further explore the city. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable! We'll be back again next time we're going to a show!!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback.

I am delighted to see that you got to enjoy your stay with us and enjoy a bit of the cultural centre of Brisbane.

We at Riverside Hotel are thankful to be a part of all that, by being so close to everything (from the city to the cultural centre and parklands), we are enriched by the whole cultural experience that our guests share with us through feedback and storytelling. Furthermore, we firmly believe that this is a very important part of our Hospitality.

I saw you have thanked us, but we are the ones who have to thank you, for choosing us, for being such great guests, for taking your time to write such a refreshing review and hopefully, for coming back to pay us a visit.

It would be my pleasure to arrange your next booking personally, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with myself directly.

Overall, don't have much really good to say about the place, but nothing bad either. Amenities were decent, the room was quality size, the location was alright. Staff was friendly and helpful enough, room was clean. Being right next to a bridge was great in terms of getting places, not so great in terms of getting sleep.

Everything is pretty much what you would expect for the price. The in-room hot water pot and free instant coffee was a lifesaver in the mornings. And while the view was of the bridge, having balconies on all the rooms is very welcome too. Not particularly convenient to public transport, unfortunately.

I would stay there again, might not be a first choice, but would always be in discussion.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your sincere review.

All of us at Riverside Hotel do our best to provide our guests with an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

From your review, we understand you have rather enjoyed the amenities, room, service and cleanliness, as well as value for your money. Location is not really clear, as you first said it was alright, then “great”, “not so great”, etc.

Your comments have been quite constructive, and for that we thank you once again.

The only thing I am forced to disagree with you is about being convenient to public transportation. We have one of the main bus and train stations in Brisbane situated one and a half block away from Riverside Hotel, and one of the main Citycat (boat) stations located just a short 10 minute walk away from us.

We would love to welcome you back, so please do not hesitate to let me know when your next visit to Brisbane will be, so that I may arrange your accommodation.

With best regards,

I found this small 3 story, 3 star hotel conveniently located at the north end of Brisbane's South Bank. Opposite Art Galleries but adjacent to busy traffic on William Jolly Bridge. Can be noisy so request quiet room at back as we did, but did not get as promised on reconfirmation until manager was eventually able to relocate us. Small, clean rooms, dated air con, reasonably priced. Though were disapponted that dining room does not open on public holidays and has limited room service at this time too. Were not advised this at any point of booking. No restaurants in immediate vicinty, had to walk down to main South Bnk precinct.
Handy to have free parking.
Otherwise quite good for a motel style property.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room at back, and not on ground floor.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your remarks.

Firstly, if you allow me, I just would like to rectify some of your comments: Riverside Hotel is a AAA rated 4 Star Hotel, with two buildings, one which is, as you said, three stories high and the other, six stories high. These lodge Standard Hotel Rooms and 1 Bedroom Apartments.

Please understand that when you make a booking, it is explicitly said on your confirmation that requests are, as they are called, requests, and will be met upon availability. We cannot give you a specific room, side or floor if that is fully booked, therefore I find it strange that one of my staff would have “promised” such a thing to yourself.

We are always happy to accommodate the requests of our guests, and as you mentioned, I did find a way to move you into a room that suited your requirements. I trust that made your stay somehow better.

On all public holidays, our hours are a bit different indeed, and all that is advertised on our website, Facebook and throughout the Hotel. Please forgive us if that has caused you any inconveniences.

The entire South Bank main restaurant area is no longer than a 10 minute pleasant walk by the river, thus I hope you had a nice walk that way.

Once again, thank you very much for your comments. Please remember to contact myself directly when you decide to book your next accommodation in Brisbane.

With best regards,

We have just got back from our weekend at the Riverside Hotel this was our 6th visit, as usual the staff were very pleasent and helpful, we even got upgraded this time to a one bedroom apartment, a lovely surprise and very very enjoyable. We tell all our friends back here at the Sunshine Coast that when they go to Brisbane they must stay at Riveside Hotel, and a few have done this. We will certainly be returning. Thank you to all your staff.
