Arrived 9 pm after another long flight and could not find my reservation. No problem, staff handled it correctly. We chose this hotel because it was only 100 meters from our Hertz rentalcar pickup location. The restaurant was closing but the chef prepared us a tasteful meal anyway. We had a one bedroom apartment at the 20 someting floor and it was clean, had a balcony and a good bed so no complaints here. The reception area and elevators are rather non-descript. The hotel is in the heart of Brisbane but midweek nightlife here has the feeling of an iceberg.

The hotel staff were excellent, and the hotel was extremely quiet. Large, spacious rooms were perfect for our family of three, with a comfortable roll away. Housekeeping was extremely responsive, and concierge booked us a great meal at a local restaurant, even requesting a special table for us. The hotel stored our bags while we travelled for a week, and they were waiting in our new room when we returned, along with chocolates and a personal note welcoming us back from the desk manager. Those little touches make a huge difference when you travel a lot, and we really appreciated the attention to detail. Good value at an internet rate, and definitely a great experience.

Small but functional and comfortable appartments. A very good restruant downstairs open for breakfast through to late dinner. No problems with check in although the maze of one way streets around the Brisbane CBD can be a trick for out-of-towners driving themselves (I used to live there and I still got lost). Don't look for the parking entrance, just park out the front and use the valet parking. The room had everything I needed for a three day business visit and was quiet and comfortable. The gym is open at usable hours but is a bit small and the pool is not really of lapping length (looks around 10m). No problems with check in or check out.

Well, I don't know if the other Sebel hotels I stayed at on my trip around Australia set the bar too high, but the Sebel Suites Brisbane was a huge disappointment. The location seems to be ok - right by the shopping if that is what you are into - but the hotel itself offers little of interest. The room were basic, plain boring hotel / motel rooms. Nothing wrong with the room, but nothing to impress either. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and therefore no nice lobby bar to have a nightcap in. No matter, it seemed that most people drank in their rooms - heavily. It seems that this hotel is the base for everyone who is partying in Brisbane. Without exception, every time we got in the elevator we met a group of extremely drunk twenty-somethings, on both nights we were there. In fact, on check in we were presented with a paper to sign promising not to hold parties in our room. You know you are in trouble when this is part of the standard check-in procedure at this hotel. The staff tried their best to be helpful and were very attentive and friendly, but we were happy to leave this boring and overpriced hotel behind.
