“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We arrived earlier to check in to our room than we had expected. We were welcomed and given our room without question at 11 am. Very grateful as we had a few appointments to get to within walking distance and could drop the car in valet parking along with our luggage and set off almost as quickly as we had checked in.
Outside of the hotel, council hire bikes are there awaiting for your use. Booking of the hire bikes online is essential prior to use. A cheap and fun way to explore Brisbane.
There is a bar and restaurant downstairs and a Japanese restaurant next door. Eagle street pier is a short stroll away with bars and eateries alike. Also, city cat is a 5 minute walk away.
We had a seafood dinner included in our package on the Friday night. The seafood was nice enough, however, if buffet is your style then I guess it's ok!
Breakfast was lovely but can get quite busy. Good coffee and service.

Dear carol1136458

It was great to read that you were able to take advantage of our location. I hope your visit wasn't too rushed and that you had time to relax whilst here.

The Brasserie is a great spot for buffet lunch or dinner - and perfect for our Chocolate High Tea of a weekend. I'm a big fan of a good coffee so was very happy to read that we could supply that for you also.

We wish you safe travels and look forward to having you with us again in the future.

Best wishes

When you travel a lot, it's easy to think all the big chain hotels are much of a muchness. So the Stamford Plaza in Brisbane came as a lovely surprise. We stayed for a long weekend, just to check out Brisbane for a change. Looking online, it looked okay and the package price seemed good value. Free valet parking sealed the deal. But from the moment we arrived, everything was just that little bit better than expected.

The service and efficiency of the staff were remarkable (and friendly and helpful too, which is easy to take for granted in NZ and Australia). The hotel is laid out in a really smart way so EVERY room gets a river view. Space is very generous and the rooms are well appointed. Even the breakfast went beyond expectations. Breakfast buffet fare can be disappointing but not only was the food really good, the riverside setting is lovely (ask to go out into the open marquee if you can). Oh, and it's very centrally placed, too.

If we go back to Brisbane, this would be the first place we would look. Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: The higher the better, but all rooms face the river die to the clever 'V' design.

Dear DitchDiver

It is always great to read that we were able to meet or exceed the expectations of our guests. It seems we were able to tick a few boxes for you, which is fantastic. Including parking in the package is a significant advantage to guests, and is something we often include in our special promotions for our restaurants.

We are certainly fortunate in terms of location - it is the perfect place to be for Riverfire! - due to its proximity to the River, the Botanical Gardens and across the river (by CityCat or Ferry) to Southbank and QPAC.

We are very proud of our Chef and his team here. Two of our staff members have just returned from a week in Sri Lanka, being the first prize for a matched tea & menu competition run by Dilmah. I will certainly pass on your comments to the team and put a copy on the noticeboard for all to see.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Best wishes

Taking time out in the city you live in can be fraught with danger, the usual excitement of discovery is somewhat muted. The Stamford is a great hotel, fabulous location with river frontage and close proximity to the centre of brisbane. The River Stage and Botanic gardens at your door and a relatively short walk to the Southbank precinct. The (Executive) room was a comfortable size and the bathroom very spacious (bath & shower). The view, despite being cloudy was amazing, looking down the river is very cathartic. We took in an afternoon snack and drink in the PAV Bar which was nice, excellent service and nice simple food. Later we moved up to the sophisticated Moo Moo bar, which I really liked, despite being expensive (something you live with in 5 Star CBD locations). Great selection of beverages and nice upbeat atmosphere with an assortment of decor and setting to suit everyone. Breakfast in the Brasserie (Mother's Day) was OK, something doesn't work in the table arrangements, we just felt a little awkward in the middle of the room. The buffet was good, not great but good and you certainly couldn't complain. Excellent value rate, including parking, and breakfast for two, they also throw in a couple of drink vouchers as well. I thought the Reception team and Concierge were really outstanding.

Room Tip: The great thing about this hotel is all the rooms have a river view, it's only a matter of up or...

Dear Paul M

Thank you for choosing the Stamford for your city getaway recently.

We are certainly well located, being so close to the Botanical Gardens, shops and restaurants.

Moo Moos is a great steak restaurant. Though located on the Stamford premises, it is actually a standalone restaurant. We do of course reccommend the restaurant to our guests, along with our onsite seafood buffet restaurant, The Brasserie on the River, and Kabuki Japanese Restaurant.

Thank you for your lovely comments regarding our Front Office staff. Our General Manager has commended the team on their efforts and they have received a copy of your comments. Their assistance certainly made a positive impression on you, which is wonderful to see.

We wish you safe travels and hope to have you with us again soon.

Best wishes

Excellent location, comfy bed, friendly and helpful staff. Taxi stand was right outside the hotel and there was always a line of taxis waiting in the morning, so extremely convenient. Shopping and restaurants within walking distance too. I loved the view of the river and the lovely morning walks by the river. The next time I'm here, I'm definitely bringing my running gear! Chanced upon the lovely quaint Yi Cafe on Edward Street just a minutes walk away from the hotel. I was charmed by the owner (Vivian), the best coffee, scones and ocean breakfast ever! Completely made my day. Only grouse is the lighting in the room is a bit too dim for my liking but I suppose it was meant to be that way due to the traditional set-up of the building. Also, bottled water was charged! I had to buy a big bottle of water from the convenience store nearby.

Dear SmurfetteSue

It certainly appears that you enjoyed your stay with us, which is great to read. There are some great running circuits through the Gardens and along the River; in one direction is Southbank and in the other is Kangaroo Point Cliffs. When next you visit, please touch base with the Concierge team who would be more than happy to offer some suggestions.

Our hotel does have an old world charm about it however we do aim to provide the modern conveniences for our guests. If you requrie additional lighting when next you visit, please don't hesitate to ask as we can certainly assist with that.

We wish you safe travels and look forward to having you with us when you are next in Brisbane.

Best wishes

This is a really lovely hotel, part in an old building and right on the river. My room overlooked the river, bridge etc and was very well appointed. In particular loved the light sensor in the bathroom - no need to try and find the light switch in an unfamiliar bathroom. The fitness room was pretty well equipped and there is also a pool but I didn't use that. A really good breakfast buffet and the option of eating either inside or on the terrace overlooking the river. They charge for wifi but it is quite reasonable with an A$25 cap for 24 hours use.

My husband and I stayed here for a getaway weekend. Our first impression was the valet parking our car, he was prompt and very polite. The staff at reception were again polite, informative and efficient. The room was beautifully appointed with a bathroom with all the amenities including a great bath with a TV. The view from the room of the river was romantic at night. The bed was incredibly comfortable and so were the pillows. There was a magazine rack with a selection of magazines to read. Slippers and robes were also in room. The air conditioner was quiet. And breakfast the next morning was great. Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, a good selection of fresh fruit and juice, salad, pastries and of course breads. The Brasserie has outdoor & indoor seating for breakfast which is good depending on the weather. The staff at the Brasserie are just what you need first thing in the morning courteous and fast. There are bars on site. I can't wait to go back and stay. It has become my favourite hotel in Brisbane.

We stayed here may 4th for one night on the romance and seduction package... Our first night away from 3 young kids and our wedding anniversary. The stay exceeded my expectations!! The room was on the 18 level with breathtaking views across the river to the story bridge. The hotel was very booked with 3 wedding going on in the area, however staff were very professional and we were made to feel like we were the only guests staying there.
For example... We checked in, they wished us a happy anniversary. They also took us up to our room, not just gave us the keys. The package included roses, candles, canapés, breakfast etc, but the room was a definite wow factor!!! The roses were made into a heart pattern on the bed, a single rose on the pillow and rose petals scattered over the room, the canapés were fresh and waiting for us next to a bottle of Moët on ice. The bath was run and had rose and candles around it. It was simply beautiful they even gave us an extra bottle of wine complimentary. Our stay was perfect and in the morning the buffet breakfast by the river was fantastic, the tables outside aren't fancy, but the location and the view and service made up for it. Wouldn't hesitate going here again.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views, but upgrade to a deluxe room, worth the extra money.

Dear luxurykitten

Firstly, may I say Happy Anniversary once again!

Thank you for choosing to spend this special occasion with us. The Romance & Seduction package is one of the most popular amongst our guests. I have to admit that I do enjoy typing up the personalised wine label - my favourite message of course is "Will You Marry Me?" That always makes us smile too!

There is a lovely story of a couple who meet several years ago in the Pav Bar, whilst out having Friday drinks with friends. They dined here on several occasions, and then stayed here on the night that the gentleman proposed. They then held their wedding here and will be back for their 2nd anniversary next month. It's lovely being part of such a great story!

We wish you a fantastic year and hope to see you again, be it for special occasion or just a coffee!

Best wishes
