“Adored the Stamford Plaza - can't wait to return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2008

I loved my stay at the Stamford Plaza Brisbane. It was fantastic - we had an awesome room with a spectacular view of the Brisbane river. The room itself was beautifully appointed and in immaculate condition.

We had breakfast in out room the following morning which was well priced and delicious.

It was quiet and peaceful for a Saturday night and nothing was too much to ask from the room attendants and the front desk.

I will be back - it was worth the price.

You should check it out too.

We only stayed here for one night. Found the hotel really nice and of a high standard. Staff at front desk were very pleasant and concierge was helpful.

The Lobby & reception area were gorgeous and what you would expect of a 5 star hotel.

The room was nice but did look a little tired. The television was really old and bulky. It did have everything you would need for a stay including some nice conveniences like a little flatscreen in the bathroom and nice cosmetics. The bathroom was big and luxurious.

Didnt try any of the eateries but the smell coming from the Thai restaurant was mouth watering!

Location was great. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants.

Would recommend.

Stayed here one night

Great room and bathroom, lots of space, views of river, right downtown brisbane, easy to walk everywhere.

Got a good price by staying on a sunday night package with buffet dinner which was ok and buffet breakfast which was great.

Lone pine koala sanctuary is a must! easy to get to by bus

I recently stayed at the Stamford for a business conference & I was surprisingly underwhelmed. I was really looking forward to enjoying this trip, but was surprised at how average my experience was.

The rooms were quite outdated: the wallpaper was dirty & peeling in some areas, there was fluff in the bathroom floor (so to me it didn't look as though it had been vacuumed properly. Yes the room was otherwise tidy, but not what I would expect for a 5star.

The reception staff were very average. They were polite enough if I asked for info, but on checking in I basically received a little card wtih my room number on it & then the girl turned away to serve the next person without further comment.

No directions as to where the lifts where or what floor I was staying in ... VERY dissapointing for hospitality staff.

On the positives, great location, so I could virtually walk to most places, along the river, botanic gardens as well as a 20min walk to the convention centre. I had a room facing the river on the 11th floor so had great views & great sunny outlook in the morning.

Overall, I was dissappointed.. I stayed in 5star hotel with older 4star decor & 3star service.

Booked a room here for my husband's birthday and decided to go all out, 5 star treatment.
Not my idea of 5 star at all.
Very small rooms which have not been updated in some time if our room was any gauge. Iron burn marks on the carpet as well as a revolting pink stain. Wall paper was stained & peeling in places, furniture well scuffed. Wish I had taken my camera along. Shower had an overhead rose and a hand held nozzle but pressure and heat only allowed the use of the overhead shower rose. No full length mirror. Poor bathroom lighting for make up.
Buffet dinner was expensive and ordinary with many of the hot dishes luke warm at best. The buffet oysters were great and plentiful and we had a wonderful table overlooking the river. However at that price I would not return just for the oysters and view.
Aircon did not cool down and we slept without covers in the warmth, glad that it was not summer.
Fabulous location to river walk, gardens and city.
Bed comfy but choice of pillows was either flat as a tack or hard as a rock.
Lovely view of the river, but sitting at the window meant looking into all the open windows of the adjacent wing and visa versa.
Free cable tv but mainly sports channels which seems to be the norm in many Australian Hotels.
Staff friendly but thin on the ground.
To put my review in context. I travel frequently for business where I need a bed to sleep in and usually opt for 3 or 4 star hotel. As long as the bed is good I am happy. This however was all about our stay at a 5 star property . We were spending most of our time in our room which did not live up to 5 star expectations.

12 August 2007. Overall, nice hotel in good location.

The hotel has a great location in the heart of the CBD with easy access to ferries, city center, south bank etc. Concierge desk was very helpful. The hotel does a lovely buffet breakfast.

Pool area is nice (pool is small) in the morning but loses the sun from 12 noon so not ideal for those wanting to lie out in the winter Brisbane sun.

Negatives would be the 5 star service extras were missing - we were given a key but not shown to our room, there was no evening turn down service and no complimentary water. Also we didn't bring a laptop with us on holidays and the hotel did not provide complimentary internet services for those not carrying a laptop.

Ran a conference here, and it appears to be one of the few hotels that have got the holidaymaker/businessman mix right.

Conference facilities are on separate floors to holiday stuff.

Unlike most 5 stars the pool is a good size.

Siggis restaurant is good but expensive, a la carte at the bistro is so-so, go for the buffet (or go to Picasso's, the Italian up the road, great food!)

My only downer was I was in a room next to the lifts, ask for one away from them as they are pretty noisy (don't stay in a room ending 08 or 09).

Excellent staff make you feel very welcome.
