“Not bad for price we paid”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

We got a pretty good deal on Wotif for a couple of nights one weekend. Check in was friendly and efficient, I mentioned that an upgrade would be nice and we were given one. Our first thought when we entered the room was that if it was an upgrade we were really glad not to be in the original room! I would not have been happy to have paid full price, I assume people who do get better rooms. The room was small and smelt musty, the bathroom was tiny without a separate shower and a hair left in the bath. Finally, the room wasn't made up after our first night despite our being out for the whole morning. On the plus side the bed was fantastically comfortable, the view nice, location great for the city shops and restaurants, and the service in the bar excellent.

Stayed here on Business in September 2013 and was pleasently surprised by the warm staff. level of service, generous size of rooms (upgrade).

Nice bar and good business meeting venue. Although they charge $400 for a projector screen for 4 hours which was a little steep considering we have a few employees booked into the hotel already.

Very pricey but you get what you pay for.

I stayed here on a short work-trip and wanted to try this hotel to compare it with the other 5-star hotels in Brisbane. I'm trying sticking to Accor hotels this year, which was the main reason I picked this hotel.

The hotel is located very centrally - not sure if it's necessarily the best location as all the other 5-star hotels are located on the river. The Sofitel is certainly the closest to the CBD (city centre) but I imagine most people come to Brisbane on holiday.

The hotel is in fact a refurbished Sheraton, and Sofitel have done a great job. Check-in is very professional and efficient and quick. The room itself is fine - it's not fantastic but to be honest neither are any of the rooms at any of the other 5-star hotels in Brisbane. The Sofitel does, though, have a great gym - on the top floor with good equipment and great views.

Breakfast is fantastic - a massive choice, great coffee and wonderful service.

My only complaint is to do with the loyalty program. This hotel, because it's privately owned, has opted out of the frequent traveller program. This means that you don't get any miles - and most of all no perks - no free upgrade to suites, no free breakfast and no free internet.

Dear SPG_JJ

I appreciate you taking the time to write a review following your recent stay with us.

The hotel is currently not part of the Le Club Points program and I apologize if you were not made aware of this at the time of making your reservation. We are able to provide Qantas Frequent Flyer points and should this prove to be an alternative for you then please let us know and we will allocate points.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and I hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back should you visit Brisbane again.

Yours sincerely
