“Good Living Feeling”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

The whole atmosphere of the Hotel. makes one feel special. The Jazz band on Wednesday nights is a great addition. This adds to ones comfort and enjoyment. The staff at all levels are more than helpful. Dinner at Cuvee 269 restaurant is a real treat. The breakfast selection is more than adequate. This hotel has similar comforts to others world wide.

My wife and I stayed one night in a Club room. We had been advised a couple of days before that the Club Lounge would not be open on that night and the lounge manager advised us that we would be able to receive the usual lounge benefits but in the restaurant and bar which suited us very well.
We also received an upgrade to a junior suite which we considered a very generous gesture and it certainly created for us a memorable experience for all the right reasons.
The entire staff were extremely pleasant, happy and sincere from check in to check out.
Our room was stunning and the breakfast was one of the best 5 star hotel breakfasts I have every had.
We would certainly recommend this Sofitel and its management deserve commendation for the consistently high standards of service to achieve a wonderful 'experience' not just a night in a hotel.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

For a business and family trip. My wife and I stayed in the Sofitel with our 6-year old son, while I was there for business.
The experience was average and did not meet expectations of the 'luxury' brand. The room was well appointed and clean, but for the price we will not stay again. The Sofitel 'My bed' experience was awful - boy was the bed uncomfortable!!!!! - we had to ask to change rooms!!!!! The change was not much better to be honest and we commented on this too, as this 'service' was much-emphasised, but in our experience was a serious let-down.
The pool was AVERAGE and given that we had experienced the worst weather in Brisbane for many years, we could not use the OUTDOOR (what is that about? need both indoor and outdoor facilities) swimming pool or spa. Waste of time having access to a pool we couldn't really use.
The gym was very EXCELLENT though - so I would recommend you use the gym. Clean, good equipment, facilties - EXCELLENT GYM.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the exorbitant cost for internet and food was totally atrocious. I am sure other reviewers might argue that high cost is to be expected, but I would answer that high cost, quality service should go hand-in-hand.
Compare this with the 2 Hilton Hotels we stayed at, who included FREE internet, FREE PS3 games and rentals, and vouchers for a Luau, or breakfasts and you soon see that the Sofitel has a different idea of luxury.
Barring location, which was great in terms of access to transport options (but NOT A GREAT LOCATION in terms of shops or views) , we were disappointed. Next time, we will take advantage of a hotel with a better view, location closer to the river or better city sights. Transport options really aren't an issue with most hotel locations, so this is not a 'deal breaker' for me.
If I were a solo corporate traveller (which I am also), I would STILL be unhappy with the price for internet and breakfast as well as the bed. We went to a local cafe for breakfast since that was better value and I would do the same as a corporate traveller.

Room Tip: Depending on your needs - if you want easy access to the train, stay here. But if you look around yo...

Dear Paul F

Thank you for the feedback and obviously we are disappointed that you and your family did not enjoy your recent stay with us.

I was very disappointed to read your comments regarding the comfort of the bed as we generally receive positive comments about the Sofitel MyBed experience. Whilst it was unfortunate that you were unable to enjoy the pool due to inclement winter weather, I was pleased to read your comments on the SoFit gym located on level 30 of the hotel.

We appreciate you sharing your concerns and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Yours sincerely

Reservations essential. The dining experience in this French inspired restaurant was amazing. The lunch included bubbles, exquisite entrees and mains. Completed with fine deserts. So delicately assembled.
Thank you for this memorable dining occasion.

Although I have stayed at many Sofitels, it still outrages me that internet and breakfast are not only not included in many rates but are ridiculously priced in this era of free wifi. No breakfast, no matter how good, should cost $48 AUD. Room size is generous and the beds however are very good and a trademark of the Sofitel brand and the staff were very friendly. A downside was some dustiness in the room.

Convenient location for our stay to watch the British Lions. Close to the waterfront and city centre to enable us to avoid the eye watering cost of breakfast. Internet use 29$ per day is a joke given free wifi outside the hotel. Rooms very well appointed and comfortable. Our experience of the staff service was excellent. Very good transport links by both rail and road to the airport.
