“Pleasant environment for a family outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

The Botanical Gardens are a wonderful space for families to get out and enjoy some fresh air as well as take in the beauty of nature. Also at the gardens is the planetarium which always has an interesting astronomical show available (charges applicable) - though can be busy during school holidays.

“Feed the Ducks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

Have a picnic, feed the ducks, turtles and eels, walk along the Brisbane River. I haven't been for a while but last time was a nice day out.

“Views of Brisbane”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Great views of Brisbane from up here - especially useful to see the way the river winds around the city. Can picnic or go to cafe up here,

“Lovely day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

You will need transport, as it is a fair way out of the city (you can also check the buses, I'm sure they'll go there). They're beautiful kept gardens and interesting hot-houses and a planetarium. If you're in for a climb, you can go up to the look-out on Mt Cootha afterwards and have a look over the whole of Brisbane.

“A picnic in the gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Though this is situated about 30 mins from the CBD, it can be accessed by public bus (to the door) or by car (plenty of car parking). This is a great place for people with mobility problems or for young children. The volunteer guides (free) offer wonderful commentaries and are available at the gate at 11am each day (check the website www.brisbane.gld.gov.au )It is also possible to drive your car through the gardens of weekdays. The planetarium and the artist in residence are worth a visit as is the coffee shop with a lovely view over a lake.

A wonderful representation of local and exotic flora including stands of eucalypts, Japanese garde, freedom wall and subtropical dome. Combine your visit with a visit to the Mt Cootha Lookout which is a couple of minutes away.
