“Excellent hotel on the riverside walk, steps from CBD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

This is a wonderful hotel, right on the riverside walk, a few minutes on foot from the CBD.

It is a ca 30 storey tower with rooms on 3 sides: city, river with bridge and river with city.

I had the river/city view and it was not bad at all: you can watch the riverside walk and some high rise towers.

The sound proofing of the (non-opening) windows is perfect; I could not hear any noise from the street below.

I had an armchair, 32" TV.

The bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately there is no self parking, but valet service was prompt (from the back entrance on Howard St).

Room service was good.

Breakfast in the restaurant was rich and well presented, with everything (fruits, pastries) in refrigerated compartments (with glass doors).

Checkin was extremely warm and friendly.

The front desk was always very responsive also for special small "secretarial (print/scan)" needs.

The room was beautiful and the bathroom too, with large separate shower, although with the obsolete 2 taps.

Lighting was good.

Brisbane is a beatiful modern city and this hotels has a very good location and top class rooms and services.

Room Tip: The rooms have views on 3 sides: bridge, river, city.

I was here on business and found it to be a decent hotel. One thing I noticed is they don't cater to women travelers as much as men. A few amenities that would help are a full length mirror, a magnifying mirror, more counter space in the bathroom, and a robe would be nice. Most places I travel to have these things and they are helpful.

We stayed only overnight but I was very impressed with this hotel, from the lovely scented lobby to the generously sized bathrooms and super comfortable beds. We would certainly return.

I recently stayed at the Marriott Hotel Brisbane for three nights. One of the reasons that I selected the property is that I am a Marriott Platinum member. As such, I am afforded Executive Lounge access which otherwise is an added cost.

My room was large with a large comfortable king-size bed. The bed had a pillow-top mattress, a duvet, and six feather pillows. (Foam pillows are available.) Rooms feature a large window that lets in lots of light, facing either the city of the river. From my room, I had a great view of the Story Bridge.

A table afforded ample working space for my computer and papers and had an accompanying desk chair. An upholstered sitting chair also was there. The TV was a large flat screen.

The bathroom included a large counter area with a basin, a large bathtub (and some bath salts for those interested), as well as a separate glass shower. Bath towels were large. The counter area included an outlet supporting American and European plugs without the need for an adapter.

I didn't use the restaurants or room service, but did use the Executive Lounge for breakfast (served from 06:00-10:00 as well as evening canapes and dessert. Breakfast included hot dishes: eggs (the preparation of which varied daily), bacon, and mushrooms. Cold offerings included a selection of yogurts, cereals, fruits (that often were not ripe or flavorful), cheese, breads (with toaster), pastries (kept warm in a small toaster oven) and some sliced meat, smoked salmon (with capers). Drink offerings included a juicer (to create ones own fresh orange, apple, or pear juice from the fruit offered), packaged fruit juices, milk, a coffee machine (supported various fancy coffee drinks), and an assortment of high-quality teas.

Coffee and tea remained available thoughout the day -- even when the lounge was not staffed.

In the evening food service began at 17:30 with dessert served around 19:30 or so. Various small cold dishes were offered (e.g., hummus or pumpkin and feta cheese puree), along with small dishes of salad, brie and cheddar cheese with crackers. Hot dishes included a meat deish (e.g., lamb meatballs or lamb sausage) and a sourdough bread with a hint of garlic butter.

Each night a featured spirit was offered (e..g, kir or tequilla sunrise), along with an assortment of bottled liquors, beer, and soft drinks.

Service was very good. Check-in and check-out were efficient and friendly. The staff in the executive lounge were friendly and helpful. The concierge/valet parking desk also offered solicitous service. Maid service was effective, keeping the room clean.

The overall experience was pleasant.

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary and it was fantastic. Great large room, fantastic spacious bathroom, great river views, and delicious food. Huge selection for the breakfast buffet including GF options.

Room Tip: The higher the better and also with river views.

This is a stunning traditional hotel in the heart of the city. We had 2 connecting rooms and both were immaculate, spacious and enjoyed views of the river. A beautiful buffet breakfast was part of our rooms package and offered a huge choice every morning before we dashed out to tour Brisbane.

Most points of interest were easily walking distance from this hotel with a wide variety of dining options nearby.

The staff were pleasant and eager to serve when asked. But, once again, they seemed reluctant to greet and extend themselves unless we made inquiry.

It was undergoing an overhaul of dining and bar outlets which looks to be a great improvement that was needed. Having visited here a couple years ago, at the end of our very busy day, we found it difficult to find space to put our feet up and leisurely enjoy a cocktail while we unwound. Hope the new results offer a cozy, un-rushed bar area to linger in for the evening.

When we return to Brisbane, it will definitely be to this Marriott. Found it very welcoming and the rooms and bathrooms offered good rest and relaxation for a reasonable cost. Plus, loved looking out at the city skyline and the river!

We stayed here for our anniversary for one night

The valet parking area was chaos cars everywhere and signs stating they were full, maybe the car park is not large enough for the capacity of the hotel, though the staff were polite and friendly as they dealt with it the best they could.

We were greeted with sparkling wine in the lobby (which was a wonderful surprise) but this may have been to distract from the renovations in full flight around us. Reception staff were lovely, though they had presumed my partner and I share the same last name and (he had taken my last name) which is not the case, but we laughed it off.

They surprised us with a bottle of sparkling to the room for our anniversary. Thumbs up!

The room was quite small, and appeared on the edge of needing renovation, would not normally have complained but high expectations when staying in 5 star accommodation.

Slept well, bed was comfortable enough, though shower pressure lacked a little, but probably a good thing seeing as we should be water wise anyway. No shampoo or conditioner in room, but lots of body lotion and bath gel. No cotton tips supplied. Only one towel each, which became a problem after a bath in the afternoon and wet towels in the evening for showers, though no problem because room service brings you more. Had two visits from Staff to our room unnecessarily, one to check our mini bar, even though we had only arrived 5 minutes ago, the second to drop off dry cleaning, though we had not put any in for service. Not a big deal, just a little unprofessional.

In the morning when we were checking out and waiting in the concierge lobby for our car, two limos rocked up and due to the drive way being so full of guests cars and lack of staff, the limo had to do a 4 point turn in the couldersack and the passengers of the limo (bridal party) had to get out on the street to enter the hotel. That would've annoyed me if I was the bride...

Couple of short falls, the staff were extremely friendly and polite which made up for it.
