“Central location, great rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Recently stayed at the Hilton. A fabulous location, right on the Queen Street Mall and few minutes walk to South Bank and the arts precinct. Staff were friendly from the moment I arrive (concierge desk, reception and bar/restaurant staff) and I was checked in quickly. Breakfast was included and there was a Wide selection of food for all tastes. The rooms a large with a good sized bathroom and all the conveniences you would expect of a hotel this size. If I has a complaint is that I arrived late on my first night due to a delayed flight and ordered room service. The meal was quite expensive but the portion sizes were very small and the bottle of wine I ordered was very, very expensive in comparison to bottle shop prices.

I have stayed at Hilton Brisbane 4 times in the last few months including two lots of 5-night stays. My Diamond status was recognised with appropriate upgrades and access to the very relaxing executive lounge. All staff were very professional and friendly and the Mark's team in the lounge particularly good. The buffet breakfasts are prepared with due care and the in house meals enjoyable. very comfortable rooms and great night's sleep in the Hilton beds/linen.

A big thank you to the staff.

Spent the evening on our way back from the Great Barrier Reef. Our check-in was quick and efficient as well as our check out. The staff was polite and friendly, even to the point of taking time to get to know you and why you are there. There was genuine interest by everyone we met.

The hotel lobby was a little sterile and short on character but the rooms were nice with a great view of the city.

WIll definately stay here again!

Room Tip: Request a high floor to get a better view of the city

I booked an Executive Suite at the Hilton Hotel for my partner's 40th birthday as a surprise for the night on 6th April......only because the Stamford Plaza was fully booked. As it was a special occasion I decided to go upmarket - over $750 per night but included breakfast, free wifi, newspaper and access to the Executive Lounge on the 25th floor.

Things were going okay until we turned up at 3.00pm to check-in. First of all the valet parking attendant(Johnny) accidentally marked the internal lining of our European car with his pen.....don't ask how he did it but he apologised and said it would be cleaned off by the time we checked out. "Not a problem" I said and we proceeded to check-in.....remember this is at 3.00pm thinking that we actually could have come earlier at 2.00pm and were meeting friends at 4.00pm for a drink.

Arriving at check-in - "Sorry sir, but your room is not ready. Would you like to wait in the Executive Lounge". Okay - this is the Hilton Hotel, right ?? I then had to ask why - "I think that they are still checking it" Okay - checking for what ?? "I don't know sir. Would you like to wait in the Executive Lounge" Well - what other choice did we have.

So.....have to lump our luggage up to the Executive Lounge and I must agree with the other comments on this site. Not that impressed with access to the "Executive" Lounge colourfully decorated outside with dandelion weeds and stale food. Sitting around here waiting for our room to be ready. I asked the attendent in the Lounge as to why it was taking so long to get access to our room. "Oh, they are still checking it" Okay - checking for what ?? "I don't know sir but you will have to wait"

Finally after 1 hour and 15 minutes we have access to our room at 4.15pm - too bad if we had arrived at 2.00pm wanting to check-in - and we then had to re-schedule our friends whilst we got changed to go out. So you can imagine how we are both feeling at this stage......

The suite itself is okay but had to request 2 more normal pillows as the only option on the bed is a large European pillow and a long skinny pillow - maybe this is what they were checking the room for ? The bath is great but you have to let the water run for about an hour before it fills up.....hmmmmm, maybe they were checking the water pressure whilst they were in there ?

I agree that the AC, even on low, is too noisy for a decent night sleep and we did struggle. The television in the lounge area does not have access to HD or Foxtel channels but the one in the bedroom does.....hmmmmm, maybe they were checking the room for this ??

Time for breakfast and it was like feeding time at the zoo at 9am on Sunday morning only to be told that we would have to wait for a table to be available along with the other 15 people. We noticed a poor guy sitting by himself waiting and when he was told that his table was ready, he was politely escorted to a big long timber table that seems custom made to suit single people and reminded me of something our of school camp ??

The food was reasonable I must say and plenty of it.....maybe too much and did not appear that fresh at times. Time for check-out and to collect our car........Nope - the pen mark was still there - seems like Johnny forgot all about it.

So driving away from the Hilton back to our suburban home, I thought - "Wow - so that's what $750 per night was worth - what a let down and I still didn't find out what they were checking the room for". Would we recommend the Hilton to any of our friends or fellow travellers - sorry, you can do better.

Dear Cana27

Thank you for taking the time to place such a detailed review on Trip Advisor.

Your feedback is appreciated and I regret your experience was not as enjoyable as it might have been. Unfortunately due to a late departure in your suite it caused a delay in your arrival and due to the size of the suite it takes some time to turn it around.

Your other points will be discussed with my management team and ensure we improve on the areas you have highlighted.

Kind regards

Stayed on a Fri. nite/Sat. morning as part of a two day getaway to Brisbane. Was wishing we had been able to stay longer. Staff were very accommodating, even brought a complimentary birthday gift for my wife....very nice personalized touch !
Stayed in a King Executive on 24th floor. Excellent partial river view. Executive lounge is nice, and all the staff we interacted with were great ! All rooms were very clean and odor free.
It does take $$$$ to stay here, ( the points & cash is a great option), you won't be disappointed. Want to go back !!

Room Tip: Higher floors tend to have less noise In case you are driving, the parking options don't tend t...

We have used this hotel for a number of years. The main reason has been its splendid location in the heart of downtown Brisbane. The rooms were as expected, clean, comfortable and well maintained. The public areas however were a little formal. Good food and drink, but in a somewhat formal atmosphere. Our most recent stay, in January 2013 showed that the rooms were still well maintained and comfortable, but now the public areas had a more contemporary feel. The attitude came from a more youthful staff who were far less formal than before. The food and drink were still good, and the menu appropriate. The consequence of these changes has been to create an atmosphere suited both to the casual traveler looking for comfort as well as the business person there to work.

Stayed Christmas Eve and wished we were booked in for longer as we really enjoyed our stay. Lovely view from the room to King George Square and the Christmas tree, decent gym, central location and professional staff. The buffet breakfast was what you would expect but nothing to fault and the staff again were lovely considering they were working Christmas Day. Would stay here again.
