“Perfect cosy wine bar - Brisbane's hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

Have been many a time for a glass or two of red, however this was my first time to eat.
And what a pleasant surprise! U had the duck with roasted parsnips and wilted spinach and it was divine! My friend had the crispy skinned salmon with bean mash and salad and again perfect!
Only 2 choices for dessert (as really a wine bar) and I'm so glad I opted for macaroons topped with Persian fairy floss.... Yes, I was in heaven!
Highly recommend you take the time to fine, instead of enjoying the vast choice of wines.
Like previous comments the staff are what make the place, so friendly and make you feel at home.
Definaty a hidden gem in Briabane!

“Très bon choix de vins et de fromages”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Nice place for a glass of wine or two, while eating some good cheese and grilled chicken (many other things available, like charcuterie or veggies ...). As usual in Brisbane, and despite a warm welcome, the place can be very noisy and closed for private functions...

“a local wine bar that has that something special !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

This is a wine bar that you need to experience & you are guaranteed to receive a warm welcome every time. I love the interior with random chairs hanging from the ceiling and a bar that draws you in. Sit up at the bar and chat with Chewie, Lili or Tom about their wide range of wines and boutique beers. It is a great way to appreciate different wines from different regions - then there is the delicious menu that ticks all the boxes.. good value all round.

Sunday afternoon the chef steps out to the deck and delivers a fantastic BBQ, or during the week there is usually a Roast special and we have also discovered their 'Happy Hour' has great atmosphere. As much as I would like to keep this place to myself, it is only right that I share Claret House - they have definitely brought something special to the area.

“These Guys Know Their Stuff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

I've been a visitor to Claret House now since early 2011 and I have to say that I've always really enjoyed the experience. As far as wine bars go I enjoy atmosphere and service. Claret House provides both and if you're into your wines these guys provide a very engaging conversation about their range without at all being snobby about it.

Situated on beautiful Vernon Terrace in Teneriffe, this is a popular place with a great range of wines and some nice tapa's style food which suits most palates. The last time I went (January 2012) they told me about their plans to extend their kitchen area so that they can offer a wider range of dishes. I can't wait for that to happen as it'll only make this place better.

Warm, friendly and very good quality is a fair description of what Claret House offers.

“Don't miss it....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2010

Went on Friday night with a group of friends. What a delightful place this is. The service was top knotch, great food (something for everyone), broad variety of wines and best of all are the people working there. They are very warm and friendly, happy to suggest wines you may like (all reasonabley priced) and also very accomodating in changing the menu to suit dietary needs. Seating is outdoors or in. Clearly a place to go for those in the know.
