Anne, the host, is the best thing about Cream Gables, closely followed by her excellent breakfasts. The location is fine and it's an easy walk into Brisbane along the river path and there are some good restaurants in New Farm, the suburb in which Cream Gables sits.
The only criticism, and that which prevents Cream Gables getting 5 stars is that the pool and garden are not as well kept as they might be. The pool was very cloudy, too cloudy to use, and the garden furniture is dilapidated with the seat and recliner cushions liberally coated in dog hair (albeit from a rather nice, very old and nearly blind dog).
But overall, this is a very good choice and could, very easily, be outstanding.

Thank you Martin for your kind words regarding myself and breakfasts, and it was a relief to realise your were not referring to me as "fraying at the edges"

Unfortunately you stayed after much rain which for some reason sent the pool cloudy overnight but was rectified after a few days; but more importantly at a time when I was dealing with the fact that both my pets of 16 years were failing fast.
I am guilty of neglect to the garden as they took up more of my time, and also of allowing the cat to comfort his frail body on the garden furniture. Shortly after your visit I made the stressful decision to put them both, "Tyson" and "Nobel" to rest on the 21st February.
What a pity that the only negative review I have received in my seven years of operating the bed and breakfast, came at such a sad time in my life.
