“Classy boutique hotel with designer touches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

If you're looking for a Holiday Inn style hotel, this ain't the place you're looking for. Pretty much every facet of the hotel is "quirky", starting with the sequential room numbers which don't indicate the floor number (room 11 is not on floor 1), the roof-top bar (where they did an EXCELLENT Rusty Nail), the very odd balcony arrangement, the epic coffee machine, the .... actually, I could keep going for a while - basically - it's not your normal kind of hotel and if you like design, quirkiness and oddball fun, you'll love it.

This is a great boutique to stay at when in Brisbane. It's eclectic and funky and the staff are fantastic and helpful. The rooms are a bit snug but very comfortable and inviting. The bed is fantastic and comfortable. The Nespresso coffee machine is a great start to the morning. The rooftop bar is fabulous for a drink and pizza or next door is Alfred & Constance for a fantastic meal. While not the cheapest or biggest, it's definately well worth a stay.

Stayed here for one night in feb 2013, wasn't long enough! My first impressions were "wow what a bizarre looking building" but as soon as we stepped through the front door, which was held open for us, I just loved it! Very modern and arty and minimal. The staff were all very friendly and natural, especially the young tall guy that checked us in (sorry can't remember his name). The rooms are small but they are designed so you can move about in them easily and there is space for your baggage etc. I found the bed and pillows very comfy. We were on the 1st floor so we didn't hear the noise from the rooftop bar which was nice. Our stay included a free cocktail each so we went upstairs and had a mojito each and a $5 pizza which was awesome. The rooms also have nespresso machines which are complimentary and a really nice touch. Over all I would highly recommend the hotel, it's very modern, staff are gorgeous and the location is great for acess to the "Valley" I think the price is reasonable for all the inclusions you get with the room. Well done guys!

I was pleasantly surprised by Limes and I am pretty picky. Yes, the room is snug but I'm not doing cartwheels in there. Perks include a Nespresso machine in the room and FREE WIFI (hello - so hard to get this in Australia). I was very comfortable in our 2nd floor room for the two nights and the free cocktail up on the rooftop bar is a nice touch. The staff were super friendly. There is a big pub/cafe down the block for a nearby dining option. We didn't have to deal with parking so can't comment on it. If you have business in the area and need a place to stay for a night or two, Limes worked for us and we will return.

Limes is designed for the twenty something party goer not the discerning traveller.

We booked a courtyard room and were allocated room 3 on the ground floor. We found the room pokey and uninspiring. The bathroom was too dark and had insufficient lighting. There was a hole in the wall under the small tv. Particularly unappealing were the old towels and other clutter left by the cleaners in the corridors. We expected the noise from the upstairs bar to be loud and it certainly was with sleep impossible for several hours until the bar closed.

We chose Limes to experience a different part of Brisbane and enjoy a few drinks on the roof top bar but the standard of accommodation was poor. We would never return or recommend.

Dear Tiffy,

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your stay at Limes Hotel didn’t live up to your expectations. I will look into what can be done to improve the lighting in the bathroom and we are having the small damage to the wall repaired.

In regards to the towels; we have addressed the standard of the towels on this occasion with the company suppling us with them. I apologise if your towels were particular bad during your stay as we should have picked up on this when cleaning the room.
I will investigate what was left in the corridor and could be considered as “clutter” by the housekeeping staff. The corridors should be clear from any objects besides when cleaning is in progress. Unfortunately due to space we are required to use the corridors to some extent when cleaning the rooms.

I’m glad you enjoyed your drinks at the roof top and hope to see you at Limes soon, if not as a hotel guest maybe as a bar guest.

Once again thank you for the feedback.
Kind regards
Magnus Hojden
