“Great food & atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Our whole family love this restaurant, originally from Birmingham UK, we felt at home straight away. The staff are very friendly and the food is superb. We eat here pretty regularly and have always been pleased with the food and service. We also have a friend who visits occasionally from NT, and this is where he insists on going every time he comes for a visit.

“Best Indian restaurant in Brisbane”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

We visit this restaurant regularly & they have never let us down. Balti-style is a different method of cooking Indian that originated in the UK. Its very hard to describe the difference, but Balti-style requires alot more skill from the chef, and results in a deeper, more balanced, combination of flavours. These guys clearly use fresh ingredients & take pride in their product.

They have a variety of dishes, some with minimal spice, right thru to dishes that will challenge the biggest chilli expert. Prices are reasonable, parking is close, and they welcome BYO wine.

“How soon can I go back?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

Last night (Saturday) we went to the Spice Avenue Restaurant with friends who are regulars of the restaurant. As soon as we arrived there was a lively buzz in the restaurant which was very busy but were still attended to by the waitress promptly. We started with pappadums and relying on the advice of our friends went straight to main meals (the meals are substantial). I had korma chicken with one chilli which was delicious and a good level of spice but I was still able to taste it, my husband had korma chicken without chilli, and our friends had butter chicken with one chilli and an omelette with salad and chips. All said their meals were delicious. To accompany our meals we shared a garlic and a plain naan bread. Between 4 this was plenty of food. As the restaurant is so busy it does take a while to get your meals but they are well worth waiting for. We arrived at about 6.45pm and left just after 8.30pm and people were still arriving. The restaurant is approximately a 35 minute drive from our house and is well worth the trip. Looking forward to returning soon.

“Spice up your life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

We adore this place. Spice Avenue is the Bayside's best kept culinary secret. After trying this, we have never been back to franchise curry houses like the Sitar. Coming from Glasgow and its famous 'curry lane' in the city's West End. we struggled to find a decent Indian restaurant for 4 years until one day we got lost in Birkdale, and found the Spice Avenue. It's run by a great chef called Naz, and his family all help out front of house. Friendly, pleasant service and the food here is consistently good - which is rare in Brisbane's mid-priced restaurants. It's very child-friendly too. Which is great, as not all of us are bogans who want to take our children to Maccas for a dining experience. Anyone we've taken to this place have all said - wow, how come we've lived here for so long and never known about it? Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
