Originally located at the Bennet Street end of Mitchell Street, the restaurant moved to its current location late 2007.We are delighted with the new setting. As part of the Holiday Inn Esplanade complex the restaurant incorporates a beautiful deck dining area and stylish cocktail bar. With seating for 90 people outside and a further 90 inside, be prepared to immerse yourself in a truly exotic experience. The furnishings, tableware and artworks have been sourced from around the world and the lighting will take your breath away.

“WOW! 12 months since the last visit and it's still sensational.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

This time 12 months ago I was raving about the trumpet mushrooms - after having dinner again at Hanumans last night I still can't talk up the trumpet mushrooms enough, they are awesome. In saying that I think the Hanuman Oysters may have trumped the trumpets.

In my opinion Hanumans is the best restaurant in Darwin.

“Excellent option for creative food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

To some extent the Hanuman menu does have some very run of the mill dishes on it's menu - like chicken curry - but look beyond that and you will find some unique and creative dishes. I found the service here to be great - very aware of looking after everyone. I started with a mocktail - they have about 6 - 8 of these - as well as a full bar and ordinary cocktails - and was happy to enjoy the cool fruityness in the heat.
For dinner we enjoyed all our dishes - "moneybags" - wrapped in a tofu wrapper and filled with a solid paste ball were big and meaty; "trumpet mushrooms" were fantastic! a mushroom cap that is filled with a very tasty grilled pork, prawn and spice mix - this had a bit of chili in it for a bite! Also enjoyed the duck salad - lots of duck breast and included lychees and pineapple for sweetness. Finally garlic naan bread - as good as any naan bread and not oily.
the restaurant setting is modern asian, very clean, good airconditioning - central location in town and the prices were reasonable (not dirt cheap but not over the top) - happy to pay for what we got. Check out their website for the full menu

“One of the best in Darwin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Having previously lived in Darwin for just over a year, Hanuman was well known as an upscale and very good restaurant (one of the only). My girlfriend and I dined here for our anniversary a few weeks ago, and the evening was fantastic. I had organised ahead of time for some roses to be delivered to the restaurant, which were waiting for us at the table when we arrived.

We ordered the oysters, 3 mains with some rice (way too much food but oh well). The barramundi dish was AMAZING, one of the best dishes I had ever eaten. The other dishes were also amazing, but by the end of our meal we couldn't fit anything else in.

At the end of the evening, when we couldn't eat any more food, the staff organised a free little dessert plate with some sweets because they knew it was our anniversary. It was really nice, and we both loved the little touch. I couldn't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

“Over rated and over priced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We ate at Hunaman Darwin in March 2013 after recommendations and it's top 5 rating. We were so disappointed. We had some of the house specials, including a duck salad which was terribly over-sweet and a whole barramundi in a special sauce. The fish had been deep fried first and then smothered in another overly sweet sauce. The fish was overcooked, so was dry and tough .. very disappointing. The other thing is that a lot of the seafood on the menu is imported... another disappointment.
The place was packed and the service was patchy at best.Wrong drinks were delivered to our table, and the waitress who filletted the whole fish at the table .. well .. it was just clumsy and embarassing.
Expected it to be pricey, which it was and would have been fine if the quality of the food and the experience delivered on the promise.

“A Must.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We were booked in by Nathan at the Holiday Inn Darwin, who recommended a few dished to us and they were perfect.

This place really has flavor and service the service is amazing, not that we need to waited on all the time but our glasses was never empty and food was out in a timely manner even though they were busy.

Must Try
Money Bags
Hanuman Prawns and Fried Rice
Trump mushrooms
Fish of the Day
Love Cake
